What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
This cozy bar is praised for its inventive cocktails and elevated comfort food, making it a popular spot for dates and brunch. While many enjoy the drinks and atmosphere, some find the food a bit pricey and occasionally inconsistent. The service is generally friendly, though some patrons have noted slow service and concerns about outdoor seating cleanliness.
"Small eclectic dive bar/restaurant. Parking is limited as well as seating. This is more of you and someone else meet up. The tables are very small but they do have a small patio space with bigger seating but it’s cozy. Service was good, arrived early for brunch. The Irish coffee and breakfast sandwich was nice but the gas were a little too soft scramble. They rotate the daily specials and offer a variety of small bites. This place is mostly known for their drinks and they do not disappoint."
Ashley
"It was really hot outside and not all the fans were plugged in and on. Flies kept getting on our food and drinks so it made it harder to enjoy for sure. The staff was very kind and understanding! Salad was good but missing something tbh."
Alex Collier
"Okay, so the restaurant is cute and chill, but watch out for bugs and roaches if you sit outside at night. Our server was slow and didn't pay attention. The food wasn't good either. My bf's burger was tiny, like a McDonald's cheeseburger. I got a chicken burger, but I couldn't eat it. It was soaked in honey, and the bottom bun was all wet, so I just ate the top part. Plus, the food is expensive. Honestly, Olive Garden food tastes better. It's not a place to eat, just a place to grab a drink."

Best Bars in Houston: New Places to Drink Right Now
A whole bunch of notable industry folks (including Anvil’s Bobby Heugel, Theodore Rex’s Justin Yu, and many more) came together Avengers-style to open this neon-lit neighborhood hangout a few years back. Today, the crew continues to fly beyond the rigid structure of top-tier lounges and tasting menus, showing off a sense of humor with everyday food, a short and smart list of brunch-y cocktails (try the chilled Meyer Frappe, dosed with either dry sherry or vodka), and a heartwarming, all-are-welcome attitude (including your dogs on the patio). There’s also a break-even wine selection modeled after Anvil’s spirits program alongside specials like euphoric “Party Melts” at the bar after 9 pm and nourishing half-priced burgers.
The 21 Best Patios & Backyards In Houston - Houston
One of the most happening spots in The Heights—other than the nonstop pedestrian crosswalk at Heights and 7th—might be the patio. Covered with canopies and multi-colored neon lights, BLT’s patio is a great place to stuff your face with a spaghetti and burrata sandwich at brunch, oysters by the half dozen, sauced-up cheeseburgers, and Italian beef sandwiches spiked with chili crisp along with an ever-rotating colorful cocktail menu. Go there for a low-key first date or Happy Hour hang, and be grateful you aren’t stuck in neverending traffic piling up on Yale Street.

Brought to you by Bobby Heugel (Anvil, Tongue Cut Sparrow, The Pastry War) and Justin Yu (Oxheart, Theodore Rex), this laid-back bar has both cocktail and food cred in spades. The simple, approachable cocktails are not meant to make people wonder what's in them.

The on-point cocktails alone are a good enough reason to make chef Justin Yu’s Heights bar a brunch destination. There’s the requisite mimosa or the Recovery Green that’s a balanced mix of rum with freshly-squeezed green apple and celery, which seemingly convinces you to think you’re being healthy until you order a fifth one. Like the drinks, the food menu is not your run-of-the-mill brunch fare with dishes like the Hangover Hashbrowns (potatoes blanketed in beef gravy, cheese, pickles and shallots) and pistachio toast (a pillow-soft pain de mie laced with honey and black pepper).
