Reviews Summary

March offers a sophisticated dining experience with exceptional service and a unique Mediterranean tasting menu. While many praise the elegant atmosphere, attentive staff, and culinary journey, some find the experience overpriced for the perceived quality of certain dishes, citing imbalances in flavor or execution.

"I was excited when Michelin came to Texas! I have been to multiple Michelin restaurants around the world and was very interested to see how Texas compared. The price was definitely reasonable compared to other starred restaurants we have visited and the food was definitely an experience. The menu here changes every six months, and we were in the Levant, from Turkey down to Egypt. We already set a reminder for January to check the new menu! (Because we will be back)

I feel like experience is what gets the star. And MARCH was an experience... It started with a relaxing aperitif in the lounge area, which really set the stage for the meal. And once we got to the dining room the experience continued. Honestly there was so much more food here than other tasting menus I have had (it may be a Texas thing lol) but everything was great and I feel like we did get a tour of the Mediterranean with a strong nod to local tastes and ingredients. I am glad MARCH got a Michelin star because that star turned me on to this restaurant!"

"I believe this restaurant is hugely overrated and overpriced.

The main reason for my feedback is the quality of the food. For a Michelin starred restaurant my expectation is at least good balance and execution in every dish and that was not the case.
The salad for instance was too sour. The farro and lentil polenta was too salty. The caviar addition to the appetizer seemed unnecessary - it was lost with the rest of the flavors.

Desserts were truly great. We loved them. Wine and the main courses were also great.

The whole story around the republic of Venice seems forced.

All the goodies - petite fours , courtesy teas , nicely printed menus and matching paper bags seem like a copy of other fancy 3 star restaurants - they would be a nice touch if the food were great.

500 dollars per head is an outrageously high price for food and an experience that in our view doesn’t even merit a single Michelin star.

The sister restaurant Rosie Canonball gives a better experience and value."

Raúl Camba

"They set the stage with the lounge while you are waiting for your table. Every server is well trained on the chef's vision. They were very attentive. The food was interesting and good. I LOVE the wagyu- the best meal in my life! They were so sweet to prepare a drink for me upon arrival and my husband loved how they reached out earlier to ask how to make the night special. A wonderful culinary experience!"

A Guide to Houston's Best Restaurants

If I’m in Montrose for dinner, I’ll stop in to Mala Sichuan for outstanding baby-back ribs, which are smothered in sweet-and-sour plum sauce with Chinese spices, and dry-pot prawns with Szechuan peppercorns. Another of my favorites is March, chef Felipe Riccio’s 28-seat Mediterranean restaurant. On my most recent visit, the tasting menu had been inspired by Riccio’s travels in the Catalan provinces of Spain and included paella valenciana, a truffle-laden bowl of escudella de hortalissa, and braised short ribs with a chestnut purée.

The Montrose restaurant hosts tasting menus that change every six months and serve as a dissertation of the Mediterranean region in season. Start your evening in the bar area (preferably around sunset) with snacks and a cocktail, then spend the next few hours in the main dining room having escalivada with arctic char or paella with lamb chorizo.
