Backstory: Mazzara’s is named for Kennedy-Mell’s great grandparents, Carmela and Stefano Mazzara, a Sicilian couple who liked to cook everything from chicken parmigiana to eggplant rollatini. “They came over through Ellis Island with my grandfather when he was a child,” she says, “and it’s just kind of a homage to the Italian side of my family.” Kennedy-Mell and co-owner/husband Matt Mell entered the Huntsville food and beverage scene in 2014 with their Church Street Wine Shoppe. In 2017, they opened upscale and imaginative restaurant Purveyor downtown.

Tucked away on Jefferson Street in The Avenue, this “provider of particularly high-end fare, provisions and merriment” (as their name suggests) is for the bougie foodie inside all of us.
