THE EAGLE - MASS AVE 📍 AJ: I had a great experience for a first time visit. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich and for an appetizer kia and I split a buffalo chicken dip and those were incredible. My chicken sandwich wasn’t bad but it didn’t blow my mind and when I added the hot honey sauce it tasted better. We also tried the grilled cheese with apricot preserves and Granny Smith apple slices and this...

Reviews Summary

The Eagle Mass Ave is celebrated for its outstanding fried chicken, featuring a great crunch and flavorful seasoning, often complemented by decadent sides like mac and cheese. Diners also praise the lively atmosphere and efficient service, even during busy periods. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some guests have noted occasional issues with chicken availability and seating arrangements, particularly for smaller parties during peak times.

"I’ve seen one of these restaurants in Pittsburgh and wanted to try it, but never got the chance. So, when in this area and seeing they had one and the reviews were really good, I went in. I sat at the bar during lunch and they weren’t busy at all. They feature a menu which centers around their fried chicken, they have related sides, and sandwiches too.

I opted for a ¼ chicken dark meat, which actually comes with 2 legs and a thigh for $10, which I thought was a great deal for a “restaurant” style fried chicken. I also ordered a side of cole slaw with it. The fried chicken was excellent! The meat was very moist and flavorful and I loved the breading too, which was very light. It comes with their hot honey, which actually had a nice little kick to it and was a nice compliment to the chicken. Their cole slaw was excellent! Made with light mayo which seemed to be mixed with vinegar and large slices of cabbage – nicely seasoned, it was great!

Service provided was excellent too! Highly recommend stopping in!!"

"Great vibe, Good Food, Minor Letdown

We celebrated my birthday at The Eagle tonight, drawn in by its reputation for having the best fried chicken in Indy — especially the dinner with five chicken legs, my all-time favorite since childhood.

The atmosphere was exactly what I hoped for: casual, laid back, and relaxed. We sat at a picnic table outside, where blues music played just loud enough to mask the sound of rush hour traffic. It set a perfect tone.

Our server, Luke, was excellent — helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the hush puppies, which were hot, crisp, and very tasty. For our entrees, I ordered the 5-leg chicken dinner, and my husband went with the half chicken. We shared the mac & cheese as a side, which was rich and creamy — definitely a win.

Shortly after placing our order, Luke returned to let us know they were running low on legs due to an extra busy Indy 500 weekend. Unfortunately, they couldn’t fulfill my 5-leg order, but they offered a 1/4 chicken dinner instead (which came with 2 legs and a thigh). Understandable, but still a bit of a letdown — especially from a restaurant known for chicken. Luke handled it professionally, and I appreciated the explanation.

Cocktails were a highlight: my husband is a Maker’s Mark & Coke guy, and he was impressed with the strength and pour. I had the spiked lemonade, and it was refreshing and well-balanced. Overall:
✔ Great vibe and atmosphere
✔ Excellent service
✔ Delicious sides and drinks
✘ Slight disappointment with limited chicken availability — on my birthday, no less!

We’d definitely go back."

"My wife and I had been hearing about this place from friends for quite a while so we finally got the opportunity to try them out. Our server was pretty good and made some suggestions to save us some money based on our individual orders. We tried as many things on the menu as we wanted to try. The chicken was very well seasoned and good, the shrimp and grits was excellent, we got cornbread individually cause we BOTH love cornbread and it didn't disappoint. The greens, Mac 'n cheese were fine. Overall a great experience AND the hot honey, wooo hoooo be ready! Check em out if you haven't and go back if it's been awhile"
