Hazelnut Kitchen is consistently praised for its delicious, farm-to-table cuisine and intimate atmosphere. Diners rave about the fresh, locally sourced ingredients and the engaging experience of dining near the open kitchen. While the menu is small and changes seasonally, the quality and creativity of the dishes ensure a memorable meal, though reservations are a must.
"We had the most delicious and delightful dinner experience here last week. Our server, MATT was patient, helpful, and responsive. The wine choices are plentiful. The food choices are few, but everything is delicious! We each totally enjoyed what we ordered. The 6 of us definitely recommend this restaurant for wonderful dining."

"Let's begin with the food. It was well presented, locally sourced, fresh, and absolutely delicious!
After our meal, we spoke with the owner/chef, expressing our compliments for his culinary skills. He was engaging and shared with us the history of the building and how it became Hazelnut Kitchen. In all, we had a great dining experience. I would recommend it."
Wayne Mitchell
"I am sooo grateful that Hazelnut Kitchen was able to squeeze me in at their counter. Actually- it was the best seat in the house! I had the pleasure of interacting with the kitchen staff as they crafted some absolutely delicious meals. I had the beets, the schnitzel, and some absolutely stunning chocolate dessert (plus a slice of the grape pie which the one chef really wanted me to taste). Best meal I’ve had in a long time- well done."

Restaurants in The Finger Lakes
A cozy spot with checkered-tile flooring, mismatched silverware, and an open kitchen, this restaurant serves up rustic-elegant meals without pretension. The chefs, Philly transplants, use local locally grown produce, grass-fed beef, and cheeses from local dairies. The menu changes monthly, but past diners have tucked into cheddar-and–Ithaca Nut Brown Ale soup, pâté made in-house on baguette toasts with Dijon mustard, jam, and cornichons and grilled hanger steak with hand-cut fries and malt-vinegar aioli.
The Best Finger Lakes Cider Houses
Nearby, Hazelnut Kitchen (entrées $20–$45) serves seasonal dishes like burrata salad with roasted blueberries and pickled fennel. With its cozy atmosphere and extensive list of local ciders, Hazelnut Kitchen is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the Northeast.
Trumansburg Eats | Fall Guide
Well, the answer seems to be yes, with a little help from our friends, out-of-town visitors, and “summer people.” But what’s truly remarkable is not the quantity but the quality of the eateries that have made their homes in Trumansburg, from cheery bar-and-grills and our one chain restaurant, to the seat-yourself easy in-and-out pizza and sub shop of the Trumansburg ShurSave, to high-end palaces of culinary perfection such as Hazelnut Kitchen and the newly re-opened Inn at Taughannock. And Trumansburg is a short, 10-mile ride from Ithaca—fairly close for a culinary adventure.
Hazelnut Kitchen: A Unique NY Dining Experience Right Here in Trumansburg
This little culinary gem might SEEM out of place in such a small town, however original owners Jonah and Christina McKeough had a vision: to mix the amazing flavors of regional ingredients with a casually-elegant environment to produce amazing foods unique to the Finger Lakes region, and perfect for Trumansburg’s palette. Hazelnut’s goal is to provide a laid-back atmosphere featuring exemplary cuisine. The result may seem like an odd mix of big-city food sophistication in a quirky and friendly, small-town atmosphere… but it really does work!
The Finger Lakes Travel Guide
In addition to its many wineries, the Finger Lakes region is home to a vast array of farms, making it a great place for farm stands and farmers markets. The Ithaca Farmers Market offers five weekly markets during growing season (June to October), the largest at Steamboat Landing and additional markets at Dewitt Park and East Hill Plaza. Visitors can pick up fresh food for a picnic to enjoy at the many lakes and parks.

7 Reasons to Stay in Trumansburg, NY
Matt and I had an upbeat, fun experience from the moment we walked in for a weeknight dinner. In fact, the vibe was so positive that our server convinced me, a well-known picky eater, to order an item called “Let the Kitchen Decide,” described on the menu only as a “thoughtfully designed entrée by our chef.
