The bar also has a stage for live music, and although lesser-known bands often perform, the Million Dollar Cowboy has hosted country music luminaries like Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr. and Waylon Jennings.

This includes an of-the-moment approach to food, with new ethnic and farm-to-table spots cropping up alongside Jackson’s classic steakhouses and watering holes (the iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar’s bronco rider is the town’s unofficial logo). Meanwhile, upscale vintage and design-minded shops have begun populating Jackson Hole’s colonnaded sidewalks, historically lined with mountain gear and blanket-and-moccasin stores.

Teton Village and the town of Jackson are like night and day, depending on what you’re looking to accomplish. The village is more expensive and, at the end of the day, more relaxing when the sun goes down. And while town isn’t cheap by any means, it’s where all the nightlife action is and gets pretty rowdy (no visit is complete without hopping on a saddle bar stool for a shot and beer at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar).

Start the day at Nora’s Fish Creek Inn, a Jackson Hole staple, in nearby Wilson. (You can also snap a pic of the Town Square antler arches while you’re there.) With breakfast burritos, biscuits and gravy, and chicken fried steak and eggs on the menu, you’re guaranteed to fly home from Jackson Hole Airport satisfied—although there’s a good chance you’ll already be planning a return trip to the Cowboy State.

For dinner, walk over to Bin22 to pick up Spanish- and Italian-inspired small plates and wine.

We also liked the restuarant next door to Million Dollar Cowboy Bar; I'm sorry that I can't remember the name. It was quiet and the food was great.

At the Mangy Moose, which is set directly at the bottom of the slopes, aprés skiers can catch daily live music, and at Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, there's a swing band on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

If you want the full cowboy experience, look no further than the famous Million Dolllar Cowboy Bar right on the town square. Saunter in through the door like it’s still the old west, leave your horse outside, and sit on one of the iconic saddle seats at the bar. They won’t put the bottle down in front of you like they used to do in the old west, but they’ve got whiskey by the barrels, literally, and just about anything else that could quench your thirst from roughing it on the trail all day.

On a long-weekend visit to Grand Teton National Park, I spent some time in Jackson with my girlfriend, her daughter and my daughter. We enjoyed street tacos and fresh guacamole at the Merry Piglets Mexican Grill and elk chops and bone marrow at the Local Restaurant and Bar. Our girls especially liked the eclectic mix of merchandise at the Jackson Hole Toy Store, which features cowboy hats from American Hat Company and collectible plush bears.

Whether you have been taking it easy stacking rocks or if you have been training in a hard core tactical class, the food at this restaurant is middle-class sized and upper-classed in size.

Tuesday nights are known for Bluegrass bands at the Wort Hotel in Jackson, WY. We enjoyed the bluegrass band until 10 and then headed over to the famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar to enjoy a live band (and a burger) for the rest of the night. We requested many songs, especially our trip anthem “Die a Happy Man”. We were hoping to see Thomas Rhett, but didn’t luck out there.

After dinner, be sure to grab a drink at the famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Not going to lie, I was giddy with excitement to be paying a visit to this gem of an establishment. The kitschy Western decor was right up my alley and with country music and western dancing all night, there’s no better way to pass the evening hours in Jackson that at this cowboy-themed bar.

Million Dollar Cowboy Bar – you kind of just have to go belly up to the bar and swing your leg over one of the saddle bar stools. We didn’t eat here, but for more of a crowd pleaser “dive” bar they had a great whiskey selection and good beer and wine to choose from!. If you’re country music fans like us it’s way fun.

We didn’t eat at The Cowboy Bar, but I had to include it because it was such a good time!. Even during the off-season, the energy oozing from this place, even during the off-season, was palpable. A local band was playing on stage, the dance floor was alive with people of all ages who were line dancing the night away.

If you want to dance alongside the locals, the Stagecoach Bar in Wilson is a better bet.

Downtown Jackson has an après scene of its own, and a local favorite is the Million Dollar Cowboy. You may recognize this bar’s famous saddle stools!. If you’re looking for some après-ski fun in town, pop into this lively watering hole for western ambiance, music, mouthwatering steak, and a refreshing drink.

Jackson has more options for nightlife than Teton Village, including some tacky, but must-visit bars like the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar which is so touristy that it has its own souvenir shop. Sitting in the horse saddles at the bar is required drinking (although the saddles get uncomfortable pretty quickly)!

If you’re doing après, that means you’re skiing, probably at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, located about 20 minutes away (with no traffic) from the town of Jackson. You should do après right and stay on the mountain. The Handle Bar, with its slope side patio is the best place to enjoy a boot – yes a boot!.

Moore’s Café, a popular gathering spot next to the Cowboy Bar, began hosting art shows in 1938. That June, Moore’s owner and chef, Jack Moore, and his wife, Berta, held a solo exhibition for their friend Archie Teater. This show was so successful the café did a larger one the following summer.

Tucked into a cozy bistro space off Glenwood Street, Trio is a local favorite for wood-oven fired pizzas, American bistro fare, and their famous blood-orange margaritas. When tables are full, we recommend splitting a small plate and bottle of wine at the bar, which overlooks the open kitchen.

Probably worth the stop if you like being social but don't expect much in terms of food. Upstairs has a $20 carnival style burger and fries. Downstairs restaurant is your best bet but it's crowded as fuck and small so get a reservation.

We had a quick after dinner drink at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar but were too early for the live music.
