Devil's Club Brewing Company

For beer drinkers, Devil’s Club Brewing Company is a wonderful addition to Juneau founded in 2018 by three boys turning a dream into reality. While recently established, the brewery and taproom inhabit the 100-year Hellenthal building just steps from Amalga Distillery in the heart of downtown. Visitors can enjoy both traditional Belgian and contemporary American beer styles while taking in the local character of town.

For great craft beer downtown, head to Devil’s Club Brewing Company, which is just 2 blocks from our Inn. You should also make your way to the Alaskan Brewery and Bottling Center, though it’s not strictly in downtown Juneau. There’s a storefront downtown, and from there you can get a shuttle out to the bottling center, where you’ll have the chance to sample craft beers that aren’t available to the general public.

Juneau has a number of craft breweries that are exciting for those who love sampling different brews, but my favorite is Devil’s Club Brewing Company. I’ll be honest: their beer isn’t my favorite, but their food menu is frankly incredible, and I can usually find something that goes well enough to wash it down. (Actually, most of what I love has beer cheese sauce, so I do love their beer – just in cheese sauce!)

There’s something about majestic, rugged nature that just makes me crave a beer. I’m apparently not the only person with that sentiment– Alaska is teeming with breweries serving up unique, delicious ales that’ll get any hophead excited. You can try out popular Alaskan brews from the likes of Alaskan Brewing Co. and Anchorage Brewing Co. at various Juneau bars like Red Dog Saloon and Imperial Bar.

The Devil’s Club Brewing Company is a popular brewery and restaurant located in the historic district of Juneau. Established in 2018, the brewery sits in what was once Juneau’s first movie theater, the Palace Theater. Renovated to accommodate the needs of a brewery, the building now serves beer lovers from Alaska and beyond, offering a rotating menu of in-house beers and restaurant specials.

Devil’s Club Brewing Company offers an exceptional beer-drinking experience with some of the best brews in the Last Frontier. Although it’s more of a bar, it’s still one of the top places to eat in Juneau, Alaska, because of the unique setting and convenient location. The brewery features local art, creating a visually appealing atmosphere that balances upscale touches with casual pricing.

But Juneau also offers a variety of micro brews at places like Devils Club or if you have just recovered from a day of fishing and need beers with a view, there’s Forbidden Peak in Auke Bay. The Red Spruce cafe in the same building as Forbidden Peak brings fine dining experience from Michelin star restaurants in Chicago to a more casual setting.

Devils Club Brewery has a taproom and kitchen in the original Palace Theater in the heart of historic, downtown Juneau. They offer an ever-rotating, wide array of beer styles and food offerings. Drawing inspiration from American and Belgian breweries, Devil’s Club specializes in everything from new-age, hoppy offerings to old world sours.

In retrospect, I should have gotten something to go from several selections at Devil’s Club Brewing across the street. We topped off the evening at Amalga Distillery, right across the street from our hotel!. They have great cocktails on tap and we picked up their gin and whiskey to take for Happy Hour on the boat.

If you’re a craft beer fan, Devil’s Club Brewing Company is a can’t-miss stop in downtown Juneau. This local brewery has some of the best beers on tap in Southeast Alaska. From crisp IPAs to creative seasonal brews, every pour is unique and I’ve stumbled upon a few that I’ve truly fallen in love with!

A block up Franklin Street Hill, just down the street from the Baranof Hotel, you’ll find Devil’s Club. On Wednesday nights, Devil’s Club sells some of the best pizza from scratch you’ll ever taste. Every other night, you can get a variety of sandwiches and other foods with or without a beer.

Another gem in downtown Juneau, Devil’s Club Brewing Co. offers an exciting selection of craft beers that cater to a wide range of tastes. This modern brewery has a trendy, laid-back vibe, and it’s the perfect spot to grab a pint after checking out the local shops or galleries.

Every beer I had at Devil’s Club was delicious (I had a couple of flights so I tried a variety), but my absolute favourite was the Rainforest Saison. It was made with moss and greens collected from the Tongass National Forest, kind of amazing!

We stopped by Devil’s Club Brewing Company and ordered the pretzel with Alaskan Amber beer cheese and a couple beers. We ate every crumb of that braided pretzel and not a drop of beer cheese remained. Were we even hungry?

Three Juneau boys with backgrounds in chemistry, business, and brewing came together to create the unique flavors of Devil’s Club. Devil’s Club is a local plant used traditionally in Alaska for medicinal purposes.

But, I just had to sneak it in here because of its impressive small bite offerings (not to mention their delicious beer). This brewery is getting a lot of things right. The beers are modern and wonderfully named.

This successful Kickstarter Project is currently still in construction. They wait for their licensing and are planning to enter the craft beer scene by Spring 2017. We are looking forward to it!

New breweries, like Devil’s Club, can be reached by just a short walk from the ship. There are other breweries and distilleries in town. Why not find one and try it out?
