What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Red Dog Saloon is celebrated for its incredibly unique and authentic Alaskan saloon atmosphere, complete with sawdust floors and live music. Many visitors rave about signature drinks like the "Duck Fart" shot and the delicious clam chowder. While the atmosphere and entertainment are top-notch, some find the food to be standard bar fare and service can occasionally be inconsistent, with one review noting a particularly unpleasant interaction with a staff member.
"My wife and I stopped by the Red Dog Saloon during our Alaskan cruise, and it was a fantastic experience! The bartender was great—friendly and attentive—and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for. The food was reasonably priced considering the area, and the quality was excellent. We tried the pretzels, Avalanche Burger, and Yakobi Smoked Chowder, all of which were delicious. We also enjoyed their house wine and the Alaskan Kolach Ale, which paired perfectly with our meal.
One of the highlights was the live country music, which added to the authentic and lively vibe of the place. Just keep in mind that the seating is strict—not like a regular bar—so it's best to plan accordingly. Overall, if you're in town, this is a great spot to unwind and enjoy some tasty local food and drinks!"

"This is another place to set your expectations. You don't want to eat here. It's a fun tourist trap with live music and a cute saloon theme, including actual sawdust on the floor. The food is fair. Everyone comes for the Duck Fart. It's an odd shot, but I guess it works. The beer choices were good. I had a nice local beer-Red Dog Ale. My reindeer sausage was so bland I had to ask for mustard. The pizza was like a cheap frozen one. I guess it really had reindeer meat, but who could tell?? The service was good. The waitress did a great job of keeping up with the mob of tourists. Go for the fun, music and drinks."

"Stopped here on our way back to the cruise ship. Had the famous duck fart and they didn’t disappoint. Husband got fish and chips. He enjoyed very much. I had chowder and it was good with oyster crackers. Such a fun experience and great music!"
