First thing to know though: Burger Queen isn’t some off-label Alaskan fast-food chain. This place has 30 different kinds of milk shakes (including grape which… sure?) and 10 different burger varieties, including an option with a polish sausage and beef patty.

Ketchikan is a seafood town, but this is where we go when we want to get a burger. Right at the end of the tunnel, this joint has been around forever and specializes in burgers from classic to weird (i.e. the Hawaiian burger comes with a thick cross-section of pineapple). Straight across the street from the Arctic Bar, you can also enjoy a beer if you want to take a break.

Burger Queen – Don’t let the unassuming exterior deter you from stopping by the Burger Queen. This place is known for their burgers, fries and onion rings. It’s a small restaurant with limited seating but you can enjoy your meal across the street one of the tables along the waterfront or take it to the bar next door (The Asylum Bar) or across the street (Arctic Bar).

Although its name may look similar to that of a famous fast food chain, don’t be fooled – this place is way better despite looking like a dump. You’ll find an array of creative burgers alongside equally tasty sandwiches here; come hungry because these thick burgers will fill you up.

The fish burgers are great, made from fresh catches, but the favourite (and my favourite) is the BBQ bacon cheeseburger. Paired with fries from locally grown hand-cut potatoes and fresh made ice cream milkshakes, this is the crew favourite spot. If you’re in the bar Asylum next door or the Arctic Bar across the street, they can even deliver it to you there.

Why Visit: Sometimes, all you need is a delicious burger, and Burger Queen delivers just that. Burger Queen is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall hidden gem in town that blows the similarly-named fast food restaurant out of the water. With house-made burgers, Polish hot dogs, haddock and chips, and more, their menu is simple, but the quality is outstanding.

It is directly across from the docks where the cruise ships tie up. If there is a line, you can be sure that those in front of you are crew members from the ships as this is the 'inside place' where 'those in the know' go. Being mostly a take out place, they worked a deal out with the 'Arctic Bar' directly across the street which is on the docks.

This locals favorite joint is located on the edge of town in a little shack with Tasmania devils painted on its side. They pump out massive burgers, halibut sandos, and a slew of yummy milkshakes. They maintain the same irreverent humor that Ketchikan is know for, selling t-shirts that say “Burger Bitch, just didn’t sound right”.

If youre not afraid of a line and are looking for a classic Ketchikan experience, its time to encounter the wonder that is Burger Queen. Food is split between surf and turf, with the former being slightly better in terms of Breakfast in Ketchikan. All of the food is really fresh & goes great with the coffee.

It’s the best fast food in Ketchikan, and pos­si­bly in all of South­east Alas­ka. The crews of cruise ships line up for an off-ship burg­er, locals call their orders in ahead of time and trav­el­ers wait in the line. A 30 minute wait in line isn’t unheard of.

Burger - Burger Queen and 108 Taphouse have excellent burgers, but for different situations. Burger Queen flips really good burgers that are quick food. Not trashy enough to be fast, but not gourmet enough to be at a restaurant.

Ketchikans Burger Queen is a local favorite, so expect it to be very busy if you show up right on lunchtime. Also the customer service is outstanding. I ordered the pork bbq and the kare-kare, and both were awesome!.
