Reviews Summary

Cruze Farm Ice Cream is a beloved local spot celebrated for its exceptionally delicious and creamy soft-serve ice cream, with the sweet cream milkshake being a standout favorite. Diners rave about the unique flavors, generous portions, and the charming, nostalgic atmosphere. While lines can be long, especially on weekend evenings, the friendly staff and swift service make the wait worthwhile for this top-tier treat.

"Stop in with the family on Sunday for a treat after having brunch at Market Square. The sweet cream milkshake is hands down the best I've ever had. It's $7.49 for a shake but worth every damn penny. It's sweet rich and decadent creamy goodness in a cup. You will not be disappointed. It's so good I've never had anything else from there. The wife raves about the cookies and cream though. If you have kids this is a must stop. You get 45 min. of peace while they are woofing down this ice cream. That alone is worth the cost of admission. Can't recommend Cruze Farm enough! They stand alone at the top of the ice cream mountain. Take the climb and plant your flag in a sweet cream milkshake."

"Mid afternoon and a line out the front door. I’d guess 40 people in line waiting to order. We decided that line itself is an indicator to give it a try! Absolutely worth it! Line moves swiftly with very nice and patient staff! The ice cream is obviously good, wide variety of options and combinations."

Terrence Reed

"Cruze Farm Ice Cream in downtown Knoxville made for a fun stop after dinner with friends on a warm evening. The place has a nostalgic soda fountain feel to it—right down to the red-and-white branding, and the staff dressed like they time-traveled from a 1950s milk bar, which honestly added to the charm.

I went for the Cookies N Cream Churn, and it hit the spot—creamy, rich, and topped with a generous handful of crushed cookies (as you can see in my photo). Between the group, we tried a bit of everything: root beer floats, strawberry milkshake, sweet cream, vegan vanilla… not a single complaint in the bunch. Everyone seemed pretty happy with their choices, and it was the kind of place where the mood lifted as soon as we walked in.

The only knock—and it's a small one—is that the layout gets cramped fast. Once the line grows (and it did), the space fills up quickly, and it can be hard to figure out where to wait or stand without getting in someone's way. Still, it’s clearly a local favorite for a reason.

I’d definitely swing back by if I’m in Knoxville again, especially after a long day of walking. Worth a detour for anyone craving a sweet treat downtown."

12 Local Ice Cream Spots to Cool Off

I’ve mostly tried to stick to small one-shop operations here, but Cruze Farm is just too good to leave off the list. With four different locations around East Tennessee (not including the farm itself, which is its own attraction), there’s a good chance you can find your way to one if you’re on the hunt for some locally-sourced ice cream. The flavors change daily; last time I went in (at the Downtown Knoxville location), I went for a simple lemon cone, but there are plenty more flavors and toppings to choose from.

Make a stop at Cruze Farm Ice Cream (also the milk we use in all of our drinks at K Brew), then make the half-mile walk to World’s Fair Park, home of the 1982 World’s Fair. We recommend pulling up some of the photos of the fair on your phone to compare to the modern site – time has changed much of the park, but many original elements are there. If the weather is nice, soak up some rays on the Great Lawn, next to the fountain circle that shoots water 20ft into the air.
