Reviews Summary
Hall's On The River offers a scenic riverside dining experience with some standout Southern comfort dishes, particularly its signature beer cheese and fried green tomatoes. While many praise the relaxing atmosphere and friendly service, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food quality and find the prices to be on the higher side for the overall experience.
"Halls has always been a family tradition for my family. I haven’t been there in years. You can’t go to Hall’s and not have seafood or beer cheese. However, I do not like seafood and I am learning to like it so I tried the crab cakes. They were nothing but amazing ,this will definitely be my Regularly ordered item. The fries were OK and I’m not much on coleslaw but the hush puppies and the crab cakes were so good. And my server was the sweetest girl I’ve ever met. I Will definitely be going back quite regularly."

"The atmosphere was fantastic, and the scenic drive along the way from Lexington was a highlight. Unfortunately, we missed the beautiful fall foliage. The food was quite pricey, and the taste was average. The shrimp and grits were the best part, thanks to the fried green tomatoes. The fish and chips were a bit dry because it was halibut, and the hot brown was a hot mess. We spent around $65, including tax and tip, on our lunch."

"We would have been better off buying frozen entrees from Aldi. Disappointed and won’t be going back.
We had heard great things about Hall’s and the menu looked great so we made a reservation to sit by the river for my birthday. It was a weekend night at 6 and there were only 3 parties there, that should have been our first red flag. The tables by the river were already seated, despite our reservation, so we sat outside near the river. The staff was kind and the food looked nice but it was extremely disappointing.
We ordered the fried green tomatoes, the shrimp po boy, and the crab cakes. The fried green tomatoes had those “real” bacon bits on it and came with some vinaigrette or sauce that we were not told what it was.
The shrimp po boy came on a plain baguette with shredded lettuce, pickles, and 5 fried shrimp with the tails still on. There was no sauce on the sandwich but came with a side of cocktail sauce. It was so bland it’s difficult to even say it was bad. It just had no flavor. The shrimp by themselves just tasted like fried grease, like there was no shrimp. The best part of the meal was the sweet potato fries, which also clearly came from a frozen package.
The crab cakes were mush. They also clearly had been frozen patties and pan fried before being served because they were cold in the middle.
There was no care put into the meal and was incredibly overpriced for what we received. We also spent the remained of the night gassy and with upset stomachs because of all the grease flavor."
