Flying Fish is s fun and relaxed place to dine by the Arkansas River. This is not a run-of-the-mill fish and chips stop, but rather a place that embraces everything to do with seafood culture. The menu showcases dishes such as fried oysters, jambalaya, crab legs, frog legs, grilled red snapper fillets sourced from South and Central America, fish tacos and the famous catfish, which is farmed in Arkansas and other regions in the USA.

For restaurants, 1620, Brave New Restaurant, Flying Fish, and Red Door look exactly up my alley (focused on ingredients, not overpriced). Also, Whole Hog and Sonny Williams look like my boyfriend would love them (lots of meat...).

The Flying Fish (a different place from the Flying Saucer) is one of my favorite places!. I believe it's located right next to your hotel. They really have great shrimp and catfish, if you like that type of thing.

You literally order at the counter and find a seat, and have to deal with it being jam-packed. Therefore, you need to jump on an empty space as people are leaving, so you have somewhere to eat. That being said, the stress bubble you endure pre-meal is well worth it for what you are about to enjoy.

Little Rock’s Flying Fish restaurant serves fresh catfish, shrimp and oysters, several other seafood dishes, as well as burgers, chicken, and mudbugs in season. Their selection of grilled salmon, trout, or tilapia is also offered daily. Kids Boat meals are the perfect dish to keep the kids happy.

Stop in at the Flying Saucer for a beer, maybe take in the piano bar, Willy D's down the street, Grab a Pizza Iriana's, the Flying fish or some Guss's Fried chicken, then maybe pop in to Sticky Fingers. Dont just go to one spot though...kind of meander around a little when you are down there.

The place I like the most is an eclectic seafood spot called Flying Fish. I always get the salmon, which comes with rice, beans, and grilled squash. It has a pretty cool atmosphere; the walls are lined with photos of people posing with fish they’ve caught over the years.

Look at all the Big Mouth Billy Bass animatronic singing fish plaques and laugh at the Liars’ Wall where people can share their fish photos and lie about how big of a catch it was. Enjoy some southern lunch choices of fried or grilled catfish, fried pickles, or gumbo.

The Flying Fish serves fresh catfish, shrimp and Gulf oysters, ceviche, snow crab legs and a wide selection of grilled and fried fish in a fast, casual format. Chicken, salads and burgers, as well as beer, wine and frozen margaritas are available. Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

I was a little disappointed when I found out the Flying Fish wasn't unique to downtown Little Rock (Memphis has one too), but it doesn't stop me from loving this place. The place has no pretense at all. You order at a counter and wait for your number to be called.

We suggest grabbing your fried catfish (and southern sides to go with it!) at Soul Fish Cafe or Flying Fish. Both of which are downtown. Fun fact: Flying Fish has a wall full of singing Billy the Bass fish that people have given to the restaurant.

My Take: I’ve eaten at FF and Eat My Catfish and definitely agree they are some of the better versions in Little Rock. Soul Fish was mentioned a lot, and is still fairly new to town, so that was an impressive showing for the downtown eatery.

The general sense of humor is marked by the wall of Big Mouth Billy Bass mounts that have each been donated for the price of one free fish dinner. You’ll find all sorts of Southern dishes, from po’boys and oysters to gumbo and catfish.

Flying Fish looks like a bait shop in the middle of nowhere — from the inside. So, it’s not what you’d expect from the outside looking in. It’s in the heart of the River Market District and sits across from the Museum of Discovery.

Of course, if you’d rather take in your surroundings a bit more, try an old favorite like Flying Fish, a newer option like food-truck-turned-restaurant Wicked Taco Factory or class things up at the Capital Bar and Grill.

I've eaten at The Flying Fish a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Just a cool Delta Style fried seafood joint. Think there's one in Memphis too.
