Reviews Summary

Lassis Inn is celebrated for its historic charm and exceptionally good fried catfish and buffalo fish, which many consider the best in town. Diners praise the authentic Southern comfort food and nostalgic atmosphere. However, some reviews mention that the menu is limited to fried fish and sides, and wait times can be long even after calling ahead.

"I really miss the fish at Lassis In . Simple menu but so tasty. I wish Mr. Washington the best. It was a Little Rock icon to those who went there on a regular basis. I had hoped he would find someone to take over if he couldn’t continue. Tastiest fried fish in town. Haven’t found anywhere else that compares."

Sharon Dahlstrom

"The fish was good. They are using U.S. pond raised catfish. I had not been here in years, and now I remember why. I call ahead with my order, and it was still not ready 20 minutes later when I got there. This neighborhood icon has been there for a long time. This restaurant is a little converted house next to the freeway. The fish is always cooked to order. They will only allow ten dine-in customers at a time. I will have to come back when the dining room Is fully open and enjoy a cold beer while my order is being prepared."

Lonnell DeMylesatorro

"Stopped by for lunch and tried their "fish ribs"—buffalo fish battered like ribs, crunchy outside and tender inside. Staff were chill and didn't hover, let me take my time. Street parking nearby was a bit tight, but I grabbed a spot with a short walk. Totally local‑soul food, felt grounded and genuine"

The Lowdown On The Best Places Where To Eat In Little Rock

Named after the original owner, Molassis Watson, the restaurant is so famous it was inducted in the first round of inductees in 2017. The tiny, unassuming, blue house that sits in a residential neighborhood has a long history in Little Rock, starting out serving refreshing lunches of cold cuts to workers in 1905. Later on, as their popularity grew, they added catfish and ultimately, fish ribs or buffalo ribs, to the menu

4 Black-Owned Restaurants to Try in 2022

Lassis served its first meal around 1905 and has been producing some of Little Rock’s best fish ever since. Much of the restaurant’s décor has been untouched since the early 1930s, and the catfish fillets and buffalo fish “ribs” have been menu staples for generations. It was a safe meeting place for the “Little Rock Nine” Black students in 1957, and today it’s Little Rock’s only James Beard award-winning restaurant.

15 Food Experiences That are Uniquely Little Rock

It’s not that catfish is unique to Little Rock, or even the buffalo ribs that Lassis Inn is so well known for. No, it’s walking into a black-owned restaurant that was open almost a full decade before World War I, sitting in an old church-pew booth, knocking back a cold domestic and enjoying food that has been made with love and care for more than 100 years. That, my friends, is as singular and unique as it gets.
