TAPS

Taps at The Georges in downtown Lexington serves a range of libations and creative pub fare. The jovial vibe reaches the 12 tables in the outdoor dining space at the back of the inn, where heating elements and fans help extend the appeal of that weather-dependent, sometimes-tented area. With options like the Virginia cheese board, Caesar salad, sweet potato fries, burgers, fish and chips, penne pasta, and more, you’ll find something on the menu to satisfy.

Right across the street from Haywood's is TAPS, where you'll find locals mingling with tourists, all looking for a good drink and a tasty bite to close out the day. The living room welcomes you to take a seat and grab a few appetizers, while the dining room lends itself to a full meal. While they call it pub fare, expect dishes that are more elevated than your standard bar.

Back in Lexington, wind down the day with a cocktail at TAPS bar, followed by dinner across the street at Haywood’s, a piano bar and grill. Both are part of The Georges, a boutique inn comprising three historic buildings in Lexington’s downtown. For dessert, head to Sweet Things Ice Cream Shoppe where scoops are served in handmade waffle cones.

Tucked beside the lobby inside the Marshall Building at The Georges, TAPS doubles as a Lexington living room. Couches, armchairs and a fireplace flank the bar in the intimate space, which fills quickly most nights with chatty groups of locals. Visiting alumni swell its ranks on weekends.

A modern eatery with a diverse menu, TAPS is known for its craft beers and innovative dishes. Whether you're looking to enjoy a cold brew or indulge in a gourmet meal, TAPS promises a dining experience that's both relaxed and refined.

Creative food pairings drive the menus at Haywood’s and Taps, both found in The Georges Hotel. At Taps, the Buffalo Creek burger with pimiento cheese is plate-licking good. Both locations also offer well-crafted cocktails.

Taps is another upscale pub experience that rates as one of our favorite local spots to grab a bite to eat. It’s supported by the fantastic farms of the Shenandoah Valley, and is a lovely spot for a romantic date night.

There are two restaurants – Haywood’s Piano Bar and Grill, the inn’s signature restaurant across the street, and TAPS, the lobby bar and lounge serving small plates and drinks. TAPS is also where breakfast is served.
