This hotel and restaurant feels like an undiscovered gem in Los Angeles, though it’s been a favorite or locals and celebrities (several of which I saw on a recent visit there) since it opened. It’s Carbon Beach Club Restaurant has what I would argue is the best view in the area, and is a better value than neighboring Nobu restaurant for great food and amazing ambience.The terrace can accommodate up to 50 guests for a seated dinner or up to 75 guests for a cocktail reception. The Carbon Beach Club Restaurant dining room can also accommodate up to 35 guests, and their private dining room can host up to 20 for a more intimate gathering.

Summer is less than a month away and like a lot of Angelenos lately I’ve been mapping out beach days in my mind. My map, of course, usually begins and ends with where to eat in Malibu. The 30 miles of coastline northwest of LA is home to a few classic seafood shacks, celebrity haunts, and local favorites.

I was fortunate enough to live in Malibu for five years, and despite not visiting a single beach club, I loved my time there. In my opinion, it’s one of the best cities to visit in the USA— possibly, the WORLD!.

El Matador is picturesque with huge rock formations, Zuma has big, open sand stretching three miles along the coast, and Carbon has the best views of multi-million dollar beach houses.

If you can’t spend $325 or more, you can still eye the view over a meal in the hotel’s Carbon Beach Club restaurant. (Just remember, nonhotel guests must reserve in advance.)
