Since the show didn't start until 8 p.m., my date and I eased into our evening by walking a couple blocks from my place to Firefly American Bistro & Bar, which I admit I've been to many times before (it's basically my "Cheers") for a cocktail and an app. I say this with complete authority: If you're looking for the best cocktails in Manchester, Firefly is the place. And the calamari appetizer we shared may just be the best as well.

The atmosphere in this restaurant is very good, especially if you dine in the classic style bar area. Menu items feature classic American fare with delicious twists that are unexpected but delicious. The braised lamb shank is tender and juicy and served with amazing risotto.

Firefly has been around for years, but it’s still one of the best for casual fine dining. The maple-glazed salmon is a crowd favorite, and their patio seating is perfect for summer evenings when you want to pretend New Hampshire winters don’t exist.

Hubby and I went here for a date night before we headed to a jack in jill in town. We enjoy going here cause they have great option for my husband who has a gluten allergy. Hubby had steak frites with a Pinot noir and I ordered the Murray chicken.
