Reviews Summary

Lazy Days South offers a stunning beachfront dining experience with a unique 'cook your own catch' option and spectacular sunset views. Diners rave about the fresh seafood and vibrant drinks. However, some reviews mention inconsistencies in food quality, portion sizes, and service, with a few diners experiencing issues with billing and ambiance.

"Lazy day south was the first restaurant we hit when we got down to marathon. I hadn’t been there before and thought we would give it a try. Everything was fantastic! I love grouper, and had the black grouper sandwich. The fish was fresh and meaty And delicious. My wife had fried shrimp, and they tasted like they had just come out of the gulf. Hand breaded and tasted like little lobster tails. We also love ceviche and smoked fish dip, and their ceviche was citrusy and delicious. We had never had conch ceviche before and although it was a little different from the normal shrimp ceviche, it was delicious. The beer was ice cold and the Mojitos were full of lime and mint and rum! The sunset view right over the water was amazing and made for a perfect evening."

Mark Reiter

"Beautiful view and very friendly server. The front host area could use a little help (ambiance mainly..very stuffy and cramped and dated). We brought in our fresh catch from a day of fishing and our server mentioned along with your typical grilled, blacked, fried, we could have it the Lazy Day way with panko fried fish, diced tomatoes and green onions and a cream sauce drizzle. So good! The gator was delicious as an appetizer and made the Lazy day way too and the tuna app was awesome."

Andrea C

"Lazy Days South was an excellent choice for a nicer meal in the Keys. The crab-stuffed snapper with key lime butter was absolutely incredible — rich, flavorful, and a generous portion that could easily be shared. The burger was juicy, and the fries were perfectly crisp. I also appreciated that they offer half carafes of wine, which was a great touch. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with high-quality food that was well worth the slightly higher price. They had a cool catch and cook option I’d recommend to anyone! Till next time!"

The Best Fish Dip in the Florida Keys

While the Florida Keys has no shortage of restaurants, they fall into three categories: tourist-centric (Islamorada Fish Company comes to mind), solid food that, while tasty, isn’t seafood (El Siboney on Stock Island does have some fish but seriously, go for the pork), and seafood restaurants (these vary in price and quality, but Lazy Days serves good fish consistently).

Also good to know - I don't think there is a place we've tried where they would NOT cook our cleaned filets of fresh fish!. Just bring them in a clean zip lock bag to hand over to the server. Most restaurants limit you usually to 1/2 to 3/4# per person which is plenty.
