Reviews Summary

Huey's Downtown is lauded for its iconic smash burgers and fun, graffiti-covered atmosphere, creating a nostalgic tavern experience. While many praise the friendly service and diverse menu, some diners have noted inconsistencies in drink promotions and the use of disposable plates and cutlery, which detracted from their overall expectation. Despite minor critiques, it remains a beloved spot for casual dining and a taste of Memphis history.

"Got the smash burger which was not very smashed, but very good. The burger sauce is a huge winner. Got the sausage and cheese plate to start, and that was pretty yum. Also ordered was a Philly, French Onion soup and shrimp poboy, nothing disappointing! Turns out my son doesn't remember ever eating steak cut fries, and they are served without salt, which I appreciate. The service was really great. They have a bunch of customer testimonies on the wall and lots of character, and I like that. They had a good selection of beers on tap, and a full bar, while still being pretty family friendly. Overall a great place that I'd be happy to return to."

"Not such a great experience…
Advertised 2 for one drinks , we never got them, then got charged a whopping 18% service charge after 8pm.
And all served on polystyrene plates with plastic cutlery .
I expected better"

Len Riches

"Fun decor with a lot of different art and decorative items all over the place.
Staff was very friendly and very helpful
Ordered fried mushrooms, Famous hurt burger with tater tots.
Mushrooms were well fried well.
Burger with Cheddar was cooked as expected and as ordered. (Med/Well)
Tater tots toasted and went well with burger
Overall, a nice place to get a burger and drink. From the time I sat down, ordered and received my food it didn’t take more than 10 mins. This place is 100% worth stopping in for some American classic food"

Downtown has its share of touristy restaurants, especially along Beale Street - good spots for live music and drinking, but generally lacking when it comes to food. But look around a bit, and you'll find some gems, including Local Gastropub (95 S. Main St., 901-473-9573), which is known for everything from humble but delicious spicy hot wings to shrimp-and-grits to green-chile & bacon mac & cheese; and the Brass Door Irish Pub (152 Madison Ave., 901-572-1813), an elegant old-fashioned space serving nicely prepared comfort food, like PEI mussels cooked in ale with jalapenos and smoked bacon, and first-rate fish-and-chips. A great choice during the day is Lunchbox Eats (288 S. 4th St., 901-526-0820), a friendly purveyor of tasty down-home soul food, including a grilled cheese, fried egg, and hot-links sandwich, and wonderfully rich mac-and-cheese.

Huey's Restaurant Memphis TN Reviews

Across from the historic Peabody Memphis hotel and close to Beale Street, the downtown Huey’s is ideal for tourists seeking a quick lunch. But it’s also a hot spot for downtown office workers --- for lunch and after-hours cocktails. Huey’s serves up juicy beef patties with a choice of fixin’s (West Coast-style with Monterey Jack and guacamole, the Señor Huey with jalapeños, patty melt-style, or on Texas toast with grilled onions).
