What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
KYU Miami is celebrated for its exceptional food quality and creative Asian-inspired dishes, with standout items like the roasted cauliflower and Korean fried chicken earning high praise. Diners consistently highlight the vibrant ambiance and outstanding service, making it a top choice in Wynwood. While most reviews are glowing, a few mention occasional issues with over-salting or blandness in certain appetizers, but the overall consensus is overwhelmingly positive.
"We visited KYU Miami on a Sunday afternoon for brunch with the family and had an excellent experience from start to finish. We arrived around 3 PM and were seated immediately — a huge plus, especially in a busy area like Wynwood. The fact that they offer valet service right out front is incredibly convenient and appreciated, considering how hectic parking can be in the neighborhood.
Once inside, we were welcomed and seated at a comfortable table. Our server promptly presented both the brunch and lunch menus, giving us a variety of options. We ordered several brunch dishes, all of which were packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Every item exceeded our expectations.
We also went with the bottomless mimosas — and our server was kind enough to let us know they end at 4 PM, which we appreciated. She made sure we had as many refills as possible during our time, providing attentive and friendly service without rushing us.
The ambiance was relaxed yet vibrant, making it a great spot for families. Between the excellent service, flavorful food, and smooth logistics (especially valet), KYU delivered a standout experience. We’ll absolutely be back."

"Nice place in the heart of Winwood . It was recommended to me by my friend for exceptional food quality. I guess it made my expectations soaring way to high. So himachal was good if only made extremely salty, to the point that salt crystals where crunching on teeth. Tuna crunchy rice was just tasteless and way too big, it would be much better if they would reduce the size of the pieces and add some seasoning to it. I like though their soft shell crab bao bun.
When we get to the main course, then I understand why my friend recommended me this place. The short ribs where just amazing!
Also I really liked their coconut pie, despite its appearance it was light and not too sweet.
So overall, if they improve their appetizer game this place would be really good."

The 27 Best Restaurants in Miami, From Cuban to Thai
There’s an arty, cool feel to KYU that strikes you even before you enter (look out for the eye-popping mural outside). Inside, the design is industrial with polished concrete and exposed beams while also feeling intimate with wooden bookcases featuring weathered cookbooks and set to a soundtrack of old-school hip hop and funk. While you’re most likely to hear KYU described as a contemporary Asian restaurant, that feels too simplistic.

food for thought | a miami food blog: The List: Where to Eat in Miami
At Kyu, Chef Michael Lewis seamlessly fuses Asian flavors with Southern barbecue technique in a way that's both exciting and accessible, like in a whole short rib marinated Korean kalbi style with sweet soy and garlic, but then smoked low and slow like like a Texas pitmaster would do. Other dishes, especially smaller plates, show the razor-honed balance of salt, acid and spice that he developed cooking with Jean-Georges Vongerichten. This is food made with some real attention to detail, but served in a way that's relaxed and unfussy.
