Sweet Liberty has a strong following amongst South Beach locals, owing to its cocktail program by homegrown mixology vanguard, the late great John Lermayer. The airy, high-ceilinged space has a subtropical-industrial vibe softened by palm tree-patterned wallpaper and a warm, wooden bar with big booths lining the opposite wall. It’s a laidback neighbourhood spot that manages to kick the energy up as the night goes on with an eclectic lineup of DJs and live music that gets revelers on the dance floor.

Since Medium Cool is a quick stroll away, you might as well stop in here as well. I’d actually suggest starting your night here on the earlier side (it’s a large, high-ceilinged, industrial-feeling space; it can get uncomfortably noisy when it fills up later in the evenings) with a cocktail or two and some bar snacks (oysters are popular, but I’m personally fond of the cauliflower nachos) before moseying down to Medium Cool for the jazz session.
