The Bird restaurant, the outpost property of Daunt’s Albatross, is another must. For breakfast or lunch, grab a bite out back in the garden-like patio—or, try their new dinner menu which uses Japanese ingredients and French Technique. By night, the space turns into a moody and groovy cocktail bar with heaps of events.

The Bird in Montauk (formerly known as Bird on the Roof) announced that they will be offering 50% off on all bottles of wine every Sunday evening starting at 5:30 p.m. The restaurant, sister business to Daunt’s Albatross Motel across the street, also has a new dinner menu this season curated by Chef Marcos Martinez-Perez.

Bird on the Roof is my favorite place to get breakfast in Montauk. The restaurant was recently taken over by a young montauk local and completely reimagined and renovated!. Their whole menu is amazing but I continually order the pancakes or the soft scramble toast which comes with avocado and burrata – need I say more!

The Bird on the Roof is a classic Montauk generational story. In the 1977, Frances and Rich Daunt, affectionately known as Meme and Poppy, fell in love with the sleepy beach town of Montauk and bought a house. They couldn't keep up with the amount of visitors, so they set out to buy something a little larger.

For three generations this was one of Montauk’s favorite breakfast and lunch spots. Unfortunately, struggles with Covid and family issues closed their doors two year ago. Rumors abounded about new owners with new agendas taking over.
