Some of the places I'm considering based on posts here and websites are: Maxwell's on the Bay, Bistro 451, Boat House on NaplesBay, Marie Michelle's, Trio's, Campiello, 821. Would anyone with knowledge of all/any of these spots please advise me about how closely any of them meets my stated needs--and of course, how good the food/experience is at the places. Thanks so much for your help.

Campiello is a favorite special occasion place (as in, some of their prices are as impressive as their prime 3rd Street South address), but the food is also a cut above. We love their Balsamic Glazed Short Ribs (the accompanying ragout of smoked tomatoes and Sicilian onions are as yummy as the ribs themselves) and wood-fired pizzas.

This class-act Third Street South restaurant occupies the historic Naples Mercantile Building and a pleasant Rome-reminiscent courtyard to its west. After dining at Sea Salt, we stopped here and indulged in the extensive wine list.

It's the place I take out-of-town visitors to introduce them to this high-brow town that I love so dearly. Campiello is almost an institution, a “go to” place for locals with reliably good food, a lovely outdoor courtyard with fountain, and good people watching. I had salmon with quinoa that was delicious, and my girlfriend had high praise for her bleu cheese and caramelized walnut salad.

Campiello: From 2 to 8 p.m., the restaurant serves autumnal dishes with an Italian flair. “Mezzaluna di ricotta” is pasta with butternut squash, sage brown butter, vincotto and parmesan. “Tacchino” is roasted turkey breast with taleggio whipped potato and truffle jus.

For al fresco contemporary Italian food, Campiello is an excellent choice, with an outdoor/indoor bar that stays buzzy from lunchtime on and offers live music from 7 p.m. Another local favorite is Sails, where the fresh seafood will transport you to the Amalfi Coast.

They offer dine-in, and takeout but do not offer delivery at this time. Their COVID precautions include requiring reservations and the staff is required to disinfect surfaces in-between visits. Outdoor seating is also available at this restaurant.

Best people watching: This still has to be Campiello on Third St. South. Once the hottest restaurant in Naples, it may have lots of competition now but it is still a must visit for anyone who comes to town. I’ve even seen European royalty here!.

Campiello hosts a South of the Border wine dinner on Friday, Aug. 30. For those planning ahead, there is The Other West Coast dinner on Sept. 13 and a French menu is planned for Oct. 8. These special dinners take place in The Club Room.
