What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pêche Seafood Grill is celebrated for its incredibly fresh seafood, particularly its whole grilled fish and raw oysters, served in a stylish Warehouse District setting. While many praise the thoughtful kitchen and unique flavors, some diners have noted issues with service consistency, especially at the bar, and occasionally find the pricing to be on the higher side.
"One of the most memorable meals I had in New Orleans. The flavors were layered, creative, and full of surprises, clearly the result of a thoughtful kitchen.
I was also impressed by how smoothly the restaurant was run. Our server asked for our full order at the start to ensure perfect timing between courses and help the kitchen with planning, which was a unique approach but made the experience feel seamless.
I ordered the baked drum, and it was outstanding. I highly recommend it!"
James A. Molnar
"The restaurant has a nice open feel. We were sat at a two top and we're close enough to talk to the next table, so not really a romantic feel. Just cozy. The hush puppies were good and served with butter. My husband had the flank steak with potatoes. Good but the sauce could have had just a little more flavor and the potatoes were just plain. The grilled chicken had a great flavor, the rice and greens were interesting. The brussel sprouts were excellent. The salted caramel cake dessert was nice and a great finish."
Mary Sendall
"Overall a pleasant experience. Team was incredibly warm and informative about order of service and menu items. Delivery of entrees came about 30 minutes after appetizers & drinks which felt a little long but it was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. Absolutely loved the baked drum and fried bread! Decor matched the theme and the low lighting made the meal feel more elevated. Street parking available and reservations recommended!"

New Orleans' Top Restaurants For The Freshest Seafood
If you want to get away from the weekend crowds in the French Quarter and dig into how the locals dine, a night out in the Warehouse District is just the ticket. Head there for this industrial-chic joint, all raw, unpolished woods and intact fish heads – the professionals pour in each night for big, ice-packed metal trays of oysters served with saltine crackers, whole grilled drum fish or big slabs of swordfish. Notably cheery and informative staff will talk you through the menu and their personal favorites.
New Orleans Food Bucket List: Most Essential Places to Eat & Food to Try
Warehouse DistrictCajun restaurateur Donald Link has long reigned as one of the most well-known and successful chefs in the city, and you can see why with any stop into one of the spots within his restaurant group’s collection: La Boulangerie, Cochon or Cochon Butcher, Herbsaint, or Gianna. But if you’re looking for fresh seafood (and when you’re in New Orleans, you should), Peche is the place to go. Make reservations if you’re planning a big night out, or try to get lucky by sidling into a spot at the bar.
26 Best Restaurants in New Orleans
Pêche celebrates a visceral approach to eating seafood, so expect whole fish delivered to the table, ready to be sliced up and eaten between tables of friends. The menu is deceptively simple, with items such as shrimp bisque and grilled tuna, but the presentation and choice of ingredients and dressings are what elevates the experience beyond the tourist traps of the French Quarter. The raw seafood and oyster bar is also an obvious must-visit, with the Seafood Platter offering a particularly good value.
The 11 Best Seafood Restaurants In New Orleans - New Orleans
Pêche is a seafood place run by the same team as Cochon, and it takes fish as seriously as its sibling does pork and oysters. The large, open space, along with the seafood platters and whole grilled fish, makes this spot in the Warehouse District ideal for big groups (take note, bachelor and bachelorette parties). However, you can also come solo or with a date and just grab drinks and oysters at the bar for an equally classic experience.
10 of the best places to eat in New Orleans
In a city with no shortage of great seafood, Pêche somehow always manages to reach the top of my recommendation list. The menu changes based on what folks are catching that particular day, although there are always excellent options for those who don’t love their food with fins. But if you can, try some seafood – preferably in the form of small plates so you can get a nice variety.
Where to Find the Best Seafood in New Orleans
Much of the menu at this seafood-focused restaurant takes a spin in the enormous wood-grill oven. And one of the best dishes—a Pêche signature—is the whole fish. That head-and-tail-on fish is often redfish, a staple of the Gulf of Mexico’s waters.

My 8 Favorite Seafood Restaurants To Experience In New Orleans
Foodies sat up and noticed when Pȇche was named Best New Restaurant in America by the James Beard Foundation in 2014, the same year that the foundation voted Chef Ryan Prewitt the Best Chef in the South. The seafood-centric jewel in the Link Restaurant Group’s crown, Pêche is notable for its open-hearth cooking over hardwood coals, a technique the chef studied in Uruguay. It’s completely possible to fill up on regional oysters from the oyster bar and small dishes like creamy house-smoked tuna dip served with saltines, but then you’d miss out on the popular whole grilled fish and baked drum with mushroom broth and calas — Creole rice fritters that are like donut hole beignets.
Explore The Rich Flavors Of New Orleans With These 20 Can’t-Miss Restaurants
Smoked tuna dip, beer-battered fish sticks, and spicy ground shrimp are just a few of the savory plates awaiting customers at Pêche, a refined Warehouse District restaurant launched by Chefs Donald Link, Stephen Stryjewski and Ryan Prewitt. While seafood is the main attraction around here, Pêche’s affinity for live-fire has given rise to hearty dishes from all walks of life, with 22-ounce ribeyes and pepper jelly-loaded grilled chicken also gracing the menu. For a truly memorable evening, guests can opt for a whole grilled fish for a taste of fresh Louisiana seafood at its finest, then grab a slice of salted peanut pie to end the meal on a sweet note.
Eating New Orleans, Family-Style
There were beignets at Café du Monde, of course, where we opted to sit down and get served by the hustling waiters rather than wait in the long to-go line; lemongrass crab Caesar, spring som tam salad, and fried catfish with pickles and “zippy” ranch at Marjie’s Grill, where casual, complex cocktails completed the backyard vibe; multiple servings of crawfish noodles at Peche Seafood Grill, where you can’t go wrong on the menu, even when it comes to catfish swimming in a pickled-greens broth; and cracklins and chili butter oysters at pork specialist Cochon, where my daughter sat a seat that had just been vacated by Nicolas Cage.
Top 5-04: Who's Got the Best Fried Fish in New Orleans this Lenten Season?
This year, the United Way of Southeast Louisiana and the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation are teaming up to benefit NOLA-area hospitality workers affected by the pandemic. In the spirit of fish fries, they asked local restaurants to team up with them to offer Friday fish specials with a portion of the proceeds going to their Hospitality Cares “Fish Fry Fridays” initiative. I was excited to see Pêche on this list because — in my opinion — no matter the time of year, few in the city do fish better than Pêche.Every Friday during the 40 days of Lent, this Warehouse District restaurant has a fried two-pound fish on the menu.
The Ultimate Couple's Weekend in New Orleans
If you needn’t go back to your hotel to freshen up, you can continue your journey right into the evening with a round of cocktails at Pêche in the Warehouse District before you hop in a Lyft out to Jack Rose. We found this restaurant in the Pontchartrain Hotel simply by crowdsourcing our meals, and it was one of the most fun environments for dinner in a city that thrives on creating whimsical, unexpected spaces. As if our meals of crispy pork belly and short rib weren’t enough to “wow” us, the server brought out a champagne bong with the check as a sort of chaser post-dinner.

Not only is this seafood-centric restaurant a popular place before games and shows at the Caesars Super Dome and Smoothie King Arena, it has some of the best seafood that you can get in the entire city. The raw bar has several options including Gulf Shrimp, Steak Tartare, and a Seafood Platter. You are welcome to get an entrée like the Grilled Tuna with lentils, carrots, and kumquats or the Jumbo Shrimp with coconut, greens, and a rice cake, but the whole table will love the Whole Grilled Fish.
