What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Zasu garners praise for its imaginative and expertly prepared seafood dishes, creative flavor combinations, and intimate, charming atmosphere. Diners often highlight the attentive service and the unique dining experience. However, some find the portion sizes small for the price point, and a few reviews mention blandness or slow service.
"Amazing food! We just did appetizers and ate tapas style and they were all delicious. We had the octopus, scallops, crispy veal sweetbread, and crabmeat fettuccine. The scallops and fettuccine were our favorite. The cocktails were ok. We will definitely be back for the food!"

"Decent food and cocktails. The restaurant has a cute ambiance, but more importantly, it has soundproofing boards - which can be uncommon in New Orleans because restauranteurs love their classic tin roofs. The highlight for us was the veal marsala, which was a special item on the menu, as well as the Blue Crab Fettucine. I'm giving it a 4 star because the bread service was pretty average, and they charged us $10 for it. The soup sounded better than it tasted. Overall, we had a lovely meal. I do think all the items on average were $5 above the New Orleans average. We'll definitely be back, though!"

"Amazing experience from start to finish. Celebrating our anniversary and they made us feel so special. Beautiful little building hidden behind the vines to help keep the outside noise out. Fresh, light and amazing food, not your typical New Orleans fair. Friendly and knowledge staff, I let the waiter do my wine pairing and he knocked it out of the park! Highly recommend and will be back."

The chef took some time away from restaurant kitchens after leaving Gautreau’s and opening the short-lived Ivy, on Magazine Street, but she’s back with a new restaurant: Zasu. Chef de cuisine Jeff McLennan worked with Zemanick at Gautreau’s, as did general manager Chris Cuddihee, who runs the front of house with aplomb.
