What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners consistently praise abcV for its inventive and delicious plant-based cuisine, with many highlighting unique dishes like the dosa and hummus. The bright and inviting atmosphere adds to the overall positive experience. However, some guests find the portions to be small for the price, leading to a feeling of being overpriced.
"We have been to abcV many times now already and we truly love the food. It is totally worth going there. They have an interesting menu, always some specialty, and everything we tried tastes great. If you are in NYC, and in search of affordable great vegan food and a great restaurant, this is the place to go."

"I was really excited to try this place. The interior is bright, cheerful, and inviting. It definitely has the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to sit down and enjoy a meal. That said, I did feel it was a bit overpriced. The drink I ordered was delicious, but the portion was surprisingly small for the price. I felt similarly about the food. It tasted good, but nothing stood out as exceptional given the cost and portion size.
Still, I think it’s worth checking out, and I’d be open to going back to try a few more items. Maybe we didn't pick the right thing and need to go back outside of brunch."

"I travel to New York often and have access to some of the best, affordable vegetarian food back home in Vietnam, yet abcV still holds a special place for me.
The space is bright, airy, and inviting, with a sprinkling of Zen Buddhist elements that feel natural rather than forced. My two favorite dishes are the Whole Roasted Cauliflower and the Mushroom Walnut Bolognese. When available, I strongly suggest to opt for the truffle pasta.
The menu is clearly thoughtful, offering dishes that balance creativity with comfort. Some flavors may not match the traditional or ethically sourced originals I’ve tried elsewhere, but the food here consistently hits the spot.
It’s a reliable and deeply satisfying staple I keep coming back to whenever I’m in the city."

The Best Vegetarian Restaurants In NYC - New York
Open since 2017, this white-walled Jean-Georges restaurant inside ABC Carpet & Home is still a very good choice for a vegetarian special occasion meal. The menu is eclectic, but the best dishes tend to be the most straightforward—like green chickpea hummus with an electric hit of garlic, and the dosa with a trio of sauces as richly pigmented as fingerpaint (but much better-tasting). Don’t skip dessert, especially if the Koji Mont Blanc is available.
Best vegetarian restaurants in NYC for everyone
One of 2017’s most hotly anticipated openings, this airy spot from Jean-Georges Vongerichten completes the ABC trifecta near Union Square. It’s worth being late to the office for its breakfast offerings, especially the vanilla chia bowl served with dates, cacao, brazil nuts, hemp and fruit. Wash it all down with the unique selection of herbal, mood-enhancing tonics and elixirs, or try the delightful house-made kombucha.
Best Restaurants in NYC
It can be depressing when restaurants are cloned, but for Jean-Georges Vongerichten there were undeniable advantages to making a branch of ABCV out of his vegetarian hide-out, Seeds & Weeds, in the Tin Building. For one, an outright copy can be better than a halfhearted imitation. ABCV’s executive chef, Neal Harden, has spent years studying interesting ways to eat grains, roots, fungi and so on.
The Best Vegan And Vegetarian Restaurants In New York City
The same people behind ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina helm this upscale restaurant, but instead of following suit with a focus on sustainability, abcV flirts with wellness. Plants – and lots of them – make an appearance in every dish. Green chickpea hummus, swirled with Thai basil, arrives prepped to be mopped up with soft pita bread or dunked into with raw vegetables.

The Absolute Best Breakfast in NYC
Like abcV, De Maria seizes upon the current moment of wellness obsession, though takes a somewhat meatier approach; there’s more than one dish involving bone broth on the menu, and quite a bit of fish. But it, too, manages to transcend it, serving food that actually tastes good, including tahini yogurt with apricot and sumac and the Japanese-y Rooster Bowl, a hearty mix of grains, cured fish, and pickled vegetables with a cup of rich broth on the side. The big, airy, Zen dining room is especially gorgeous by day.
