Always love to stumble by an ice cream shop next to dinner. This is Ample Hills Creamery in Prospect Heights, NY and it is definitely a good local ice cream shop. Reviews Summary

Ample Hills Creamery is praised for its creative, delicious, and high-quality ice cream with a wide variety of unique flavors. Many enjoy the 'flight' option to sample multiple tastes. However, some customers have encountered issues with customer service, finding the staff impatient or the ordering process stressful.

"This is what it’s all about: an ice cream store with a vision, a mission, a way of being in the world. The ownership changes over time are sad, but its legacy remains strong: wildly delicious flavors that please the mind, the body, and the soul. I always get peppermint patty these days, because it’s so tasty, but I’ve had perhaps a dozen flavors over the years and have never been disappointed. The cherry on top? It’s named for a Walt Whitman line."

Andrew Russeth

"I was so excited to try Ample Hills Creamery after hearing about their supposedly amazing ice cream. And yes, the ice cream itself was delicious - creamy, flavorful, and unique. But that's where any enjoyment of my visit ended.

The staff was unbelievably rude from the moment I walked in. Eye rolls, sighs, and snippy responses when I asked questions about flavors. They acted like my presence was a massive inconvenience to them.

And don't even think about using their bathroom - not even to wash your hands after eating sticky ice cream! When I asked to use the facilities, I was treated like I'd requested to rob their safe. Absolutely unacceptable for a food establishment to deny basic hygiene.

No matter how good the ice cream is, I cannot and will not return to a place with such atrocious customer service. Save yourself the frustration and find another ice cream shop that understands the concept of basic human decency."

Jose Garcia

"love ample hills, the ice cream is so good! had some great customer service today and the most delicious ice cream (as always, post gooey butter cake & salty kisses and caramel wishes) i heard the salted caramel is temporary? please keep it! also noticed that the ice cream freezer may need to be a bit colder? regardless, love this place and will keep coming back again and again and again"

Best Cakes in NYC: Where to Find the Best Styles of Cake in New York

Ice Cream Cake Multiple locationsBrooklyn’s own Ample Hills scoop shop takes the classic ice cream cake and turns it up to 11. Choose two flavors -- I’m partial to the cookie dough-packed “Baked/Unbaked” and sweet-and-salty “The Munchies,” but follow your heart -- for them to stack with a butter cake or brownie base and a gooey layer of fudge. It’s all covered in whipped cream and your favorite topping, making it the perfect cake to sprinkle with tears while crying about being a bridesmaid for the 17th time.

Ample Hills––the Brooklyn-based sweets brand lauded for its quality-mined, made-from-scratch ice cream––has been on a tear, opening 11 locations in the last decade between New York, New Jersey, and California. Though founded by husband-and-wife team Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna––and now under control of larger corporation Schmitt Industries––Ample Hills nonetheless continues it plight, offering whimsically-flavored ice creams, all produced in its 15,000 square foot Red Hook factory. But, the good news for Queens denizens is that Ample Hills counts a location in Astoria, and it’s here one will find some of the best ice cream in the borough.

The Best Ice Cream, Gelato, and Soft Serve in NYC

Since opening in 2011 to a sold out first weekend, Ample Hills has become the Brooklyn heir apparent to the Ben & Jerry's school of ice cream: rich, quite sweet, and loaded with crunchy and chewy mix-ins. Just three years later, Ample Hills looks practically old school in the wake of a dozen new ice cream shops that owe it at least some thanks. Their Salted Crack Caramel is already a new classic: smoldering burnt sugar hit heavily with salt and studded with "crack" cookies made of saltines, butter, and sugar; it's almost too much to take down a scoop by yourself.
