What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Fornos of Spain is celebrated for its authentic Spanish cuisine, with diners consistently praising the generous portions and the array of complimentary starters and sides. The elegant, old-world ambiance and attentive service contribute to a highly satisfying dining experience, making it a Newark gem. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, one diner noted an unpleasant encounter with a head waiter whose demeanor detracted from their meal.
"Have taken my work team here twice. Both times we were extremely pleased with the service and the food. Upscale dining at relatively affordable pricing. Everyone loved their various paellas (especially the black rice paella). Beef and cheese was delightful. Chicken Marsala delicious and done very well. Desserts was also top notch ... Pistachio creme brulee is a must try."
Trudy Stoddert
"Came with a group of four and shared the stuffed mushrooms, ceviche, and shishito peppers to start — all were delicious. We had the paella Valenciana and ribeye steak for our mains, and it was more than enough. The meal started with a house salad, which was a nice touch.
Everything was flavorful, and we all loved it. The flan and churros for dessert were exceptional. Service was great, and they even have a separate cigar lounge. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!"

"I can't think of the last time I went to a restaurant that was this excellent a value. From the start, they had a complimentary bread basket, an olive platter, and GOOD house salads for both of us (with great fresh vegetables). Again, complimentary. With dinner they included 3 generous complimentary sides: house made potato chips, green beans, and rice. For the entree I ordered a rack of lamb, and it was perfectly prepared. I almost cried. My wife got a vegetarian paella. After we ordered and finished our dessert, they brought out complimentary churros with chocolate dip, which were also great.
The decor and vibe of the place were also so enjoyable. It's just a Newark gem. Big cigar racks in the back, classic decor, just a classy, homey joint. I loved it. What a great spot and I'll definitely recommend it to everyone."
