There’s a ton of room for groups with a bunch of different spaces: the main downstairs dining room, the upstairs dining room, the upstairs bar resembling an Irish pub, and the upstairs outdoor terrace. We like it outside where towers of Rhode Island oysters, raw clams, and a couple of quahog stuffies hit just right on a nice day. It’s one of the best places for lunch in town, but it would totally work for a dinner where you get dressed up and eat oysters from five different Rhode Island port cities.

I had the lobster bisque and salmon which I highly recommend, it was one of my all time favorite salmon dishes.

Midtown Oyster Bar was a sprawling space, with a traditionl bar downstairs, soaring celings and room to breathe upstairs, with a XXX covered porch that looked out onto the harbor. They claim to have te largest raw bar in town. We had our final lunch here, wanting to just do a simple, local XX and it hit the spot.

With bars on multiple levels, at Midtown Oyster Bar there’s plenty of space, which makes this one great for large groups. It’s a popular meeting place for post-wedding festivities. Midtown has an amazing raw bar along with tons of delicious seafood and a vast selection of beer, wine, ciders, and cocktails.

Full of bar patrons enjoying great craft beers and glasses of wine, but we were there for the oysters. And this place delivers. They serve up some of New England’s best oysters and if we had time we could have sat there all afternoon dining on oysters and pairing them with a dry rosé or white wine.

Ever since I took Marina to have raw bar at Midtown Oyster Bar it’s become our favorite spot in town for little neck clams and oysters. Midtown has the largest raw bar in Newport plus a great atmosphere. There are three dining rooms and three outside decks in addition to the cozy tavern area.

Such a great seafood-focused menu, with surf ‘n’ turf, a large raw bar, scallop crudo, lobster rolls, char grilled octopus, cod chowder, and a perfectly-balanced charcuterie board. We shared a delicious meal and left pleasantly full and happy!

The Wharf Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar at #47 Bowan’s Wharf, the Smoke House at #37 Scotts Wharf for barbecue and cocktails, Kaffeology Coffee-Bakery at 359 Thames St., and The Red Parrot Restaurant at 348 Thames St. are also fun spots.
