George Filopoulos, owner of the new Gurney’s Newport loves Pasta Beach. “It has amazing pizzas and pastas, especially the spaghetti alle vongole,” he says. “You can’t even count the number of clams.

This is a special Italian gem in Newport (with restaurants also in Providence and Boston) that in my opinion is under rated. Marco is the king here — original owner and chef from Bologna who believes in pure sauce, one which isn’t overdone with garlic and simmering, but with a two step process, which we learned about from a chat with him after our dinner on a most perfect August night at his Newport locale. His perfect sauce is one that includes a sauteed and simmering of carrots, onions and celery and then only a day later does he add the sauce.

Mullins says the Spaghetti alle Vongole from Pasta Beach, owned by the Ropolo family, “brings us back to our day trips driving along the beautiful Amalfi Coast.” The dish is considered a classic in Italy. “It’s actually one of my favorites on the menu,” says Eldredge Ropolo, whose parents, Susie and Gianni, founded the restaurant in 2002. The cornerstone of Spaghetti alle Vongole, explains Eldredge, is the Vongole verachi: small, flavorful Italian clams, considerably slighter than a New England clam.

Another great Italian option in Newport but with a more contemporary vibe than Sardella’s above. As the name suggests, pasta dishes are one of the restaurant’s specialties, but they serve far more than just that – and since the executive chefs and pizza chef are all Italian, you just know it’s all going to be as authentic as it comes. Expect to find classic Italian dishes such as Milanese di pollo, bistecca alla griglia and zuppa di pesce.

Occupying a restored storefront at 138 Bellevue Avenue, Pasta Beach shares the block with the Audrain Auto Museum and sits a short walk from the Tennis Hall and Redwood Library. Bright awnings, an open kitchen, and Torino-designed straw lamps set an airy, modern tone. The kid lineup sticks to penne (butter, pomodoro, or meat sauce) or a pizza, while parents twirl house-made pasta or split a Margherita pie.

With locations in Boston and Providence, as well as an expanded Newport outpost, Susie and Gianni Ropolo’s Pasta Beach is ascending. Among our friends in the know in Newport (special thanks to Realtor supreme Kylie McCullough for the introduction), Pasta Beach was a universal top choice. Pasta Beach – Since moving to Bellevue Avenue, Pasta Beach has become one of the hottest spots in town. Brothers Tyler and Eldredge Ropolo have transformed this Pasta Beach into a mecca for the well heeled hot 20’s and 30’s scenesters from NYC, Boston, Europe, Newport and beyond. Call ahead for reservations because Pasta Beach is one of the hardest tables to land in town.

Sometimes you need a lobster roll break and when you do, head straight to Pasta Beach. If the Amalfi Coast and The Classic Coast had a love child, this would be it—a little slice of Italy on historic Bellevue Ave. Newport was the first PB location but the Italian restaurant has become so wildly popular they now have outposts in Boston and Providence.

I discovered Pasta Beach last year during my trip to Newport, and had to return this year!. Everything about this restaurant is amazing from the cute and cozy ambience, accommodating staff, amazing pasta & pizza dishes, and fair pricing. Pasta Beach – 7 Memorial Blvd – With the chefs and owner behind the counter conversing in Italian, it is clear that Pasta Beach offers truly authentic Italian food. The decor, like the menu, is simple and fresh with marble top tables and rattan bistro chairs. Menu items range from ultra thin crust pizza, pasta dishes, sandwiches, and salads.

Pasta Beach is an authentic Italian restaurant on Bellevue Avenue with a fun, modern feel. We stopped here for lunch one day, and we loved the food and the experience. Pasta Beach definitely deserves a spot on this list of awesome places to eat in Newport, RI, though they have two other locations in Boston and Providence, too.

This is an attractive, modern Italian restaurant that has both casual items (brick oven pizzas) and more formal items (specialty pasta dishes). For an appetizer, we split a Margherita Pizza which was so good. I’m more of a sauce girl, while James is more of a cheese guy and this satisfied both of us.

For dinner, head to Pasta Beach, which famously flies over chefs from Italy to train its employees. Yes, they also have an outpost in Providence, but the Newport location is housed in a beautifully-renovated historic building on Bellevue Avenue with considerably more charm.

Newport, the original Pasta Beach location, has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Authentic Italian cooking is the name of the game here. Located on historic Bellevue Ave, in an area that features a few shops (Alloy) and galleries.

The decor is lovely, but the Chicken Milanese is even better. This is another locals spot tucked up on Bellevue Ave. Like most Newport restaurants reservations are necessary although eating at the bar at Pasta Beach is delightful.

Fresh pasta, bright Mediterranean flavors, and a modern atmosphere make Pasta Beach a go-to for casual Italian dining. Try the spaghetti al limone or their signature pizzas for a satisfying bite near Bowen’s Wharf.

Brick Alley, Belles (if it’s summer), Pasta Beach, Guisto, Diegos. Really depends on what cuisine you’re going for. Skip the big spots like The Black Pearl, Red Parrot, Midtown - they’re really not worth it.

The patio at Pasta Beach (138 Bellevue Ave.), which also has a Boston location, is a fashionable Miami Beach-style Italian bistro where the espresso martini cuts the creamy bucatini cacio e pepe perfectly.

Other excellent places to eat during your romantic trip to Newport include Pasta Beach for handmade Italian specialties, CRU Café for a cozy breakfast, and Kilwin’s Chocolates and Ice Cream for dessert!

Pasta Beach (Newport) - I’m never not in the mood for Pasta Beach. I also love an excuse to sit at their back room bar and have a Pomegranate Fizz. The ultimate ~ vibey ~ Italian restaurant.

Another great pick is Pasta Beach, located on Memorial Drive in Newport. It’s a small restaurant, but they have delicious pasta, as the name would indicate.

Although Pasta Beach sounds like an Italian version of Baywatch, don’t let the name fool you. This is really good Italian food... and it's in Newport!
