They usually serve oysters fresh from the waters around the island, with a few littlenecks thrown in, along with dishes like lobster roll sliders topped with caviar, fresh and creative crudo, and wet- and dry-aged steaks. The patio that’s tucked away behind greenery (but still lets you people-watch as the masses walk by) will be your favorite hang all summer.

Chef Monterio went on to own and operate 19 Raw & 19 Prime, where Chef Prifti became the Chef de Cuisine in 2018. Chef Prifti attributes much of his success to Chef Monterio, and his recent accomplishments have further fueled Chef Prifti’s desire of running his own restaurant on Martha’s Vineyard, too. So many of Chef Prifti’s mentors continue to have a pervasive influence and presence in his growing career.

The Lobster Taco (burrito but I think there is a story to the naming) was packed with fresh lobster in every square inch. The oyster we choose were from the local Signature Oyster Farm and were sweet and always seem to be the best choice. We also had the crowd pleasing Lobster Bolognese and the twin lobster tails in poaching butter with corn and potatoes.

I am not quite sure why, but when you walk up to 19 Raw Oyster Bar, you feel like you’re in for a fun time. Perhaps because it is a bar and is small and intimate. The set-up pretty much guarantees that you’re going to accidentally bump into friends there or make new ones.

After lots of hard work and of course countless Wash Ashore beers, Joe created 19 Raw Oyster Bar. When you step inside, you will be met with an authentic, fresh, and casual vibe. From reclaimed wood, to industrial accents and Edison lightbulbs, it is warm and welcoming.
