What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Blue & Fly Asian Kitchen is praised for its authentic traditional Chinese dishes and a separate menu of Americanized options. Diners highlight the friendly and efficient service, as well as the generous portion sizes, making it a popular spot. However, some have found certain dishes, like the hot and sour soup or fried rice, to be disappointing or lacking in flavor complexity.
"I was highly recommended here by a friend several times so… my partner and I finally went. To begin with, it’s very much a hole in the wall sort of place, but in the best way. It’s tucked in the corner by Petsmart, but when you get inside there’s plenty of elbow room. The chairs were nice and comfy, everything was clean. The decor is very minimalist but nice. We stood at the counter for all of maybe two minutes before we were quickly seated with menus, shortly followed by our water.
The food was five stars right off the bat. We both started with egg drop soup and it was incredible. There’s no corn in it, for those of you who don’t prefer it. The bowl had just enough that you got a good portion, but not so much that you would be full immediately. With the wonton crisps on top there was a beautiful crunch - and they weren’t greasy.
Then came the appetizers: crab Rangoon and potstickers. The crab Rangoon are different from any that I think I’ve ever had, in that they’re kind of sweet! They came with sauce for dipping, as did the potstickers. Those were very tasty as well, hot and crunchy with plenty of filling in all of the above.
In perfect timing, out comes our entrees - sesame chicken with broccoli for me, and hot and crispy chicken for him; both of us got steamed white rice. Rice was pretty straight forward, perfectly cooked, and you get a heaping cup of it. My sesame chicken was INCREDIBLE. I really can’t recommend it high enough! The sauce was so flavorful, perfectly sticky; and then the chicken was hot, crispy, and I had plenty to take home for leftovers. He told me that his H&C chicken was also amazing, but I could’ve told you by the look on his face at the first bite!
We chose to pass on dessert, but with our ticket came two little mango candies which were an excellent way to end. All of the staff was friendly yet speedy, but not once did I feel rushed. We both agree that we’re definitely coming back to try more because we were very impressed.
Tl;dr Run, don’t walk, it’s fantastic - if you haven’t been yet, then you’re missing out!"

"The food was well-seasoned, but it also wasn't diverse in flavor. There was no kick in the flavor that made the dishes stood out. The string beans were delicious tho, very fragrant with the garlic. However, the hot and sour soup, was a bit disappointing since the smell of bamboo shoots in the soup overpowered all other flavors and the soup wasn't sour and had no spicy kick to it. The pig intestines with chili oil was interesting since I expected a crunchier texture for the intestines, but it was rather soft.
Service was amazing because all the staff were very friendly, quick, and good with checking in on customers during the meal. The place was cozy and when I was there, almost all the tables were filled."

"They have a huge menu which allows you to get whatever dish your heart desires. My wife liked the Cashew with chicken. Only complaint was that it could have used more cashews. I had the Triple Delight Combo which had plenty of tender meat -- chicken, beef, & shrimp -- and veggies. Both were good, solid entrees!
However, we were disappointed in the "Fried Rice" that came with the meals. Absolutely NO vegetables, meat, eggs, etc. were present. Maybe they have a different definition of fried rice than any other place we have ever been.
Service was great. The Egg Drop Soup was fine and we liked the crispy strips that came on the side. There were several other diners and people picking up to-go orders. So it is obviously a popular restaurant. But the poor quality "fried rice" demands a one star reduction."

Loved the Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Fried Rice Combo was good and Wonton Soup was piping hot but also yummy with plenty of wontons in just a cup. Will definitely order again!". "As always, everything was delicious. The only thing I noticed was that the Crab Rangoon (4) could have had more cream cheese / stuffing in them, otherwise they were still tasty and crispy! C13. Curry Fried Rice With Meat was awesome, good curry flavor without being overwhelming, and was loaded with chicken. Egg Drop Soup was buttery and delicious. The Shredded Pork dish was great too. Huge portions!
