What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Black Bean Deli is celebrated for its authentic and delicious Cuban fare, particularly its renowned Cuban sandwiches and flavorful empanadas. Diners rave about the excellent coffee and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere, often comparing it to home. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, a few guests have noted occasional issues with sandwich preparation and less-than-stellar customer service from specific staff members.
"stopped by today for lunch! I ordered the media noche sandwich, and my boyfriend got the roast pork bowl, both were so good 🙂↕️💓 flan was yummy, and the guava pastelito is so far the best I’ve found in orlando since moving here from miami. theres been some very questionable guava pastelito tastings up until today lol
the cashier was super sweet and let me know they were on happy hour!! so we ordered the tostones which were the best part of the meal!! so crunchy and salty, sauce was perfect. they even passed out little cafecitos during our meal which was so sweet & reminded me of home :’)
10/10!! would eat again 🙂↕️💓"

"Needed a Cuban good fix and they did not disappoint!!! We ordered Pan Con Bistec, Pan Con Lechon & Media Noche & Picadillo Bowl & Papa Rellenos and Yuca fries. Everything was super tasty and the service was fast and friendly. Will definitely be back!"

"I went in on a Thursday at about two in the afternoon. The restaurant wasn’t too busy.
My order was the lunch special, a Cuban sandwich with beans and rice and a side of plantains.
When the order came out, it didn’t look quite right. It looked as if it had barely been pressed, it looked more like a sub roll with some cold cuts. When I bit into it, it had the same texture of a hoagie and was just barely warm inside.
As no one ever checked with me to see if everything was OK, I ate the first half but was just not satisfied so I pointed this out to the counter server and asked him if they could repress the other half. He told me they could give me another sandwich but just couldn’t repress the other half. Although I couldn’t eat a whole other sandwich, I took him up on the offer.
I waited a few minutes and a young lady, tattooed with face piercings, came out and tossed the tray onto the counter, and it slid over to me. She had nothing to say. As she turned and walked away, I said, “thank you” as she continued to walk away without turning around, she gave me a cursory you’re welcome.
I have eaten at the black bean deli many times. The food is always very good. However, this time it wasn’t prepared properly. They are serving Cuban sandwiches. They are supposed to be properly pressed. Whoever prepared this in the back was just going through the motions. Whoever served it did not care that it was not prepared properly. Whoever was running quality control was a complete failure.
My main issue is with the tattooed/facial pierced GenZ young lady that brought the sandwich out. She really is a better candidate for working in the housekeeping industry or at The DMV or perhaps Social Security. She has no idea what customer service is all about and does a disservice to the black bean deli. Her whole demeanor left such a bad taste in my mouth. It will be a while before I return.
The Lions share of the employees there are GenZ. She was so bad. She makes her associates look like they are 5 star servers.
See attached photo of the properly pressed Cuban on the left, against what was originally served to me. This is akin to serving melted ice cream at an ice cream shop. To their credit, they fixed the problem, but that server should be fired."

The 10 best restaurants in Orlando
You don’t have to visit Miami or Tampa to get an authentic Cuban sandwich. Hispanic cuisine is firmly to the fore in Orlando, and this former petrol station turned deli in the up-and-coming Mills 50 District looks humble, but don’t let that fool you. A small dining room with cinderblock walls is fitted out with industrial-style white tile, metal framework and light wood for a bright, Floridian look, but the food is authentically Latin American.

Circle a few times to snag a spot, and your reward will be some of the best pan con bistec, empanadas, frita burgers, and cortaditos you can find in town. The Cubano is their specialty, but don't overlook the medianoche.

Respecting the past and embracing the future is the underlying tenet at Black Bean Deli, a duo of boutique Cuban eateries in Winter Park and Orlando, where ownership honors timeworn cultural traditions while serving it up in a stylish fast-casual setting. Open for breakfast and lunch, classic and novel dishes and snacks abound — look for cafe con leche, ham croquetas, and guava pastelitos alongside slow-roasted pork bowls, Spanish baked chicken, and tuna salad sandwiches on buttery Cuban bread. And speaking of Cuban bread, the classic Cuban sandwich — with sweet ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese, and pickles — is superb.

I had kind of forgotten about them since 4Rivers opened, but last time I was at Black Bean they did have a small surface with some bar stools if you wanted to dine in. It would be an excellent stop on the way to walk around Park Avenue or to the Winter Park boat tour. If you go to Black Bean Deli ask them what their special of the day is, since those are sometimes slow-cooked longer than normal.

Best Cuban restaurant(s)? : orlando
For Cuban food, I would recommend Old Cuban Cafe and Black Bean Deli. I like the rice more in Old Cuban Cafe since it’s more authentic, but Black Bean Deli’s pork and quesitos have much more flavor imo. I would also recommend Tu Casa Restaurant, it’s a bit of a hidden gem, but great Dominican/Caribbean food.
