Reviews Summary

Maxine's On Shine is lauded as a neighborhood gem with exceptional service and delicious, eclectic comfort food. Diners rave about the vibrant atmosphere and attentive staff. While generally praised, some reviews mention that portion sizes or value may have changed over time, and on busy days, service can be a bit slow.

"Loved this place! "Charming" is the best way to describe it -- it's nestled in the middle of the neighborhood, and when you walk in, it feels very personable and authentic -- like the owners themselves could come out at any moment! The food was also great, we came for Bite 30 and I had the "Cool as a Cucumber flatbread" and the Applewood smoked pork tenderloin. A true neighborhood gem!"

Chris Peralta

"Was not a fan of the gravy on the biscuit it was more like a pot pie filling with celery and carrots. But that is just my personal view. May be good to others . The cheese sprung rolls were great. Chicken and waffle and omelet was good."

Rhonda Barnaby

"I got a Chicken & Biscuit Bowl with eggs and bacon and it was SOOOO GOOOOD ! I’ll give it 8.5 and that’s because of presentation. The sausage gravy really pulled it all together.

I went and requested a table for 5 with no reservations and waited about 20 min. We sat inside and the ac wasn’t pumping enough I must admit. They did have fans on to help with it being too hot."

From the vibrant, playful decor to the creative, diverse menu, this is an exercise in serving up well-known dishes that all have a unique touch and plenty of flair. Enjoy your brunch with some soulful live music and a strong drink in hand at this quaint neighborhood eatery. Maxine’s on Shine serves up all the classic brunch cocktails—mimosas, bloody mary’s, and sangria—but with a twist. “Warnin’ in da Morning” is the bloody mary’s wild cousin, served with a “beer floater, bacon stir stick & smoked shrimp olive skewer.” Mimosas can be made with an assortment of organic juices, including pomegranate.

Orlando Brunch Restaurants: 10Best Restaurant Reviews

One of the beauties of brunch is that it's something of a "Vulcan Meal Meld," giving foodies the option of cobbling together goodies they love for breakfast with fare they generally eat at lunch or dinner. Maxine's is no different, offering seasonal salads and seafood in the same breath as decadent, creative omelets, Benedicts and waffles. Though Maxine's on Shine is a delightful place for date night cocktails and dinner and live music, it retains its cozy, eclectic, neighborhood vibe â€" not to mention gracious hosts and staff --- in broad daylight, as well. That's why they call their brunch a "Rejucination." And if you're booked on Sunday, pop in for brunch on Saturday instead!

15 Best Places to Eat in Orlando — Restaurants and More

Maxine's on Shine is an award-winning neighborhood restaurant and wine bar bursting with art and a provocative, self-proclaimed "splash o' sexiness." Its married owners — Maxine, a gregarious redhead with signature cat-eye glasses; and Kirt, a fedora-wearing gentleman with a penchant for slam poetry — are like mini-celebrities here, and their personalities permeate throughout the place like smoky notes in a full-bodied syrah. It seems like everyone in town has a Maxine's story. For example, I first learned about the restaurant shortly after I moved to Orlando, when my car broke down on a residential street while I was on my way to work.
