There are a few vegan options at this Filipino restaurant but I always get the same thing because it’s so very delicious and I can’t quite find it like this elsewhere: the Ginataang Kalabasa (squash in coconut milk with green beans), pictured here. If you have room for starters, you can’t go wrong with the Spring Rolls: super fresh with a delicious peanut sauce. Manila Resto is located right downtown, there’s plenty of street parking nearby, and they have live jazz music playing on Fridays and Saturday featuring John Harmon!

Flipino fine dining is not something you hear very often but in Oshkosh, it’s a thing. It is really is a first of its kind in this area and serves modern Asian food with influences from the Philippines which is the owner’s heritage. Filipino cuisine is somewhat of a melting pot of influences, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Mexican, and American, and ingenious Flipino influences all feature here.

Right in downtown Oshkosh, you’ll find Manila Resto, an authentic Filipino restaurant. Here, you’ll find Filipino favorites, like their crispy pata (traditional marinated pork fried to a deliciously crispy texture) or their popular bihon noodles. The menu also features a long list of sushi — the Ninoy Roll is a local favorite — and other East Asian staples.

Following a first course of panko fried pickles or tempura fried onion rings, diners at Manila Resto, 107 Algoma Blvd., can try Chef Ninoy's specialty fried chicken or his Inihaw na Liempo — grilled pork belly with in-house Filipino barbecue sauce. Dessert offerings are cassava cake or maja con mais, each served with French vanilla ice cream.

Try the fresh spring rolls for your appetizer, Avocado Maki or Veggie Roll with steamed veggies for your sushi choice. Specify vegan for these main dishes: Sotanghon or Ginataang Kalabasa. Everything at Manila is from scratch, so as long as it's possible, they can make a dish vegan that is not already vegan.
