Reviews Summary
Las Casuelas Nuevas is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere, generous portions, and authentic Mexican cuisine passed down through generations. Many praise the attentive service and festive ambiance, making it ideal for special occasions. However, some diners have found the food quality inconsistent, with occasional complaints about greasiness or lack of authentic flavor, and some find the pricing high for the quality received.
"Everything was as good as I had hoped. The restaurant is really big, and has great parking. The staff was very welcoming, and attentive. The food was delicious, and there were so many items to chose from . The decor is well chosen, and made the place feel very homey.. I look forward to coming back here, next time I visit the desert. Ps. The portions are big, so come with an empty stomach!"

"We celebrated my husband’s birthday & Cinco De Mayo! The Mariachi band was so entertaining they played our request & happy birthday! The food & drinks were delicious as always. Our server was fabulous & engaging throughout our visit. He even took a perfect picture of our party!"

"The building and patio are gorgeous! Service was great! Food was just ok. The tortilla chips were thick and hard. The salsa was spicy and they didn't have a mild one. My husband ordered a combo, 2 Beef Tacos and 1 Chicken Enchilada. He liked it, but he gave me a taco and I thought the shell was very greasy. I have a cup of vegetable soup with meatballs. Was just ok. I've definitely had better Mexican Food. The atmosphere is what sells this place."

Restaurants in Palm Springs and the Desert Resorts
Using his grandmother's passed-down family recipes from Mazatlán, Mexico, Florencio Delgado and his wife opened their original restaurant in 1973. Five decades later, the Delgado descendants are still pumping out hearty and traditional plates of fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, and harder-to-find stuffed-pepper dishes like chile en nogada. Imported art and crafts lend festive charm to this casual but crowded culinary institution, which has an expansive garden patio.

Florencio and Mary Delgado opened the original Las Casuelas in Palm Springs in 1958, bringing recipes passed down from Florencio’s grandmother, Maria Fajardo Delgado, of Mazatlán, to their family restaurant. Whether eating in the beautifully tiled dining room or on the romantic patio, there’s no bad spot to enjoy time-honored dishes like albóndigas soup, chile verde, and tamales.
