For quick and hearty traditional Mexican food, this popular place is perfect. Favorites are camarones a la diabla (spicy shrimp), chiles rellenos, and fish tacos. The smothered burritos are large enough to feed two, and there's plenty of Corona and Dos Equis to cool off even the spiciest items.

There's way more going on here than just tacos and burritos, though. Highlights at this festive cantina include a make-your-own-salsa bar and a killer chile relleno.

For lunch, make a beeline for the no-frills, packed-with-flavor Mexican fare at El Chubasco (1890 Bonanza Dr, 435.645.9114), which is known for its chiles rellenos, although you can’t go wrong with any of the burritos, either. After lunch, head up to Main Street for a trip back in time exploring the area’s mining heyday at the Park City Museum (528 Main St, 435.649.7457). Exhibits of interest include one of the Great Fire of 1898, the blaze that nearly leveled Park City, and another of Park City’s actual original territorial jail.

Most of the budget-friendly options are off of Main Street in the Prospector Square neighborhood – my top three are El Chubasco for Mexican cuisine, Ganesh for delicious Indian food, and Freshie’s Lobster Co. My midrange picks are Yuki Yama for sushi, and High West Distillery for the BEST burger ever – and also try the pretzel and beer cheese!. For upscale dining, check out Grappa for amazing Italian cuisine, Chimayo for Latin-inspired dishes, and Riverhorse on Main for fine dining on historic Main Street.

While some may hate on slightly white-boy (read: lard-free) versions of Mexican classics, this clean, friendly joint is beloved by locals of all stripes. It’s just as popular with visitors, who come for the bomber-size Smothered Burritos, Chile Rellenos, Tacos, and Specialty Plates (Mole, Machaca, Enchiladas are but a few). All of that pales, however, in the face of the giant Salsa Bar, packed with all manner of housemade condiments, including charred jalapenos, escabeche, mole, and spicy crema.

Sure, El Chubasco might be in Park City, but check your pretension at the door, get in line, order your delicious but inexpensive Mexican food, smother it in mango salsa and fork over your five bucks, pal. The little eatery tucked inside a strip mall has great views of Park City Mountain Resort’s ski runs but with such low prices, you’d think you were eating down in the valley or—gasp!

El Chubasco has amazing Mexican food, but the thing that really sets them apart here is the plethora of housemade salsas that they make fresh every day. There are almost 20 of them in total!. You’ll find everything from the basic staples like pico de gallo, to the spicier Salsa de Arbol, to the Salsa Habañero, to the fruity and sweet Mango y Manzano.

El Chubascos is one of my favorite mexican places, reasonable prices, Jill and Craig (owners) are also the shit. If you want to drive a bit, Tarahumara is down in Midway, about 20 minutes away, and is phenomenal.
