Reviews Summary

City Park Grill offers a unique dining experience with its historic atmosphere and varied menu. Many praise the delicious food, the cozy ambiance, and the friendly service, particularly noting dishes like the fish and chips and the signature biscuits. However, some diners have encountered slow service and inconsistencies in food quality, with occasional complaints about dishes being overcooked or not fresh.

"Had an amazing meal at City Park Grill. Friends who visit seasonally return every year. The staff was fantastic—our waitress Kelsey was especially sweet and expertly handled our dietary restrictions. The atmosphere was cozy and homey, with classic rock playing in the background."

"Great spot to stop. Our waitress was pleasant however she never asked us if we wanted beverages. We hunted her down for some. Then she just brought us the check. Never asked if we wanted anything else. We ordered additional stuff and she made the comment that she would have to get us a new check. The food was good."

TraciAnn Keim

"We stopped in just before 1:00 pm on a Sunday. Didn’t appear to be that busy, capacity at about 50%. Service was quite slow, which changed our agenda to one drink and and appetizer. From this time we sit our beer order 15 minutes to order, another 10 to arrive. The place is nice, staff friendly, hopefully service times improve."

Also the restaurant at the Little Traverse Bay gold course is very good. Don't miss Knot a Bar at the Bay Harbor complex. Noggin Room (basement of Stafford's Perry) very good for casual; good pizza, salads, sandwiches, specials.

The 14 Best Gluten-Free Spots with Outdoor Seating in Petoskey

I came here a week ago and am disappointed to say that my experience was less-than-stellar and in many ways just bad. I came here because it had good ratings for gluten-free food (I have celiac.) They had a gluten-free menu from which I ordered a bowl of soup and made sure it was put in as a gluten allergy so it would be taken seriously. After waiting for almost 30 minutes for a single bowl of soup (I was ordering to-go!) they brought out a box with the bowl of soup in it right next to two biscuits, which I was then told by the manager were not gluten-free.

7 Best Restaurants in Petoskey, Michigan, in 2025

Located in downtown Petoskey, the City Park Grill is a historic Hemingway haunt history-buffs will love. You can imagine Hemingway writing and smoking at the second seat from the end of the bar, where the charred indentation from his cigar stains the otherwise polished bar. When Hemingway hung out here, the then saloon was the Annex, most likely the inspiration for the saloon in his story The Man of the World.
