What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lom Wong is highly praised for its exceptionally authentic and flavorful Thai cuisine, offering regional specialties prepared with traditional techniques. Diners love the unique dishes, the curated 'Arai Kodai' experience, and the cozy, romantic atmosphere. However, some find the prices high for the portion sizes, and a few have noted issues with rushed service or less-than-ideal experiences with specific dishes.
"This was my second time visiting, and while I liked it the first time, this second visit really impressed me. I think the key is variety—last time I only tried one dish, which didn’t give me the full picture.
We decided to come back after seeing the restaurant had won an award, and we wanted to see what the hype was about. Since we didn’t have a reservation, we sat at the bar (on a weekday just after 5 p.m.) and were seated right away. The bartenders were incredibly friendly and attentive—they even made me a custom drink, which was such a nice touch.
Now the food… wow. We had the scallops, wings, and the fried whole fish. I was honestly a little intimidated by the fish at first—it came with the head and bones—but it was so tender, easy to eat, and literally melted in my mouth. Everything was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection.
This spot is officially on my list of local favorites. If you’re in the area, it’s a must-try!"

"Ever since reading about Lom Wong and their Beardsley award, I was intrigued. I recently moved here from Seattle, where there’s no shortage of amazing Thai food, but I hadn’t found anything spectacular in Phoenix—until now.(Let me know if you have any other recommendations!)
I happened to be in the area and stopped by solo, and I was thoroughly impressed.
This isn’t your standard Thai spot. If you’re willing to trust their recommendations, you won’t be disappointed. I loved how the menu is organized by region—it’s such a cool way to experience Thai food, especially if you’re considering traveling there someday.
I tried a noodle dish that was the closest thing to pad Thai on the menu, and it was really good. But the real standout was the shredded shrimp mango salad. Sweet, sour, savory, cool, spicy—it was absolute perfection in a bowl. Hands down my favorite, and I can’t wait to go back for more.
The service was just as impressive. The host, Mike, was warm and accommodating, even without a reservation, and Carly was fantastic—attentive, kind, and spot-on with her recommendations.
All in all, this was a wonderful experience, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit."

"It's really hot on the patio. I definitely recommend making a reservation to avoid sitting outside.
The server was just okay. I wouldn’t mind tipping 20-30% if our server is great but the prices are pretty high, and you could easily spend around $15-25 in tips for just two dishes.
I still tipped 20% but really dissatisfied with it.
Overall, I don't think it's worth the money for the level of service you receive.
That said, the food was amazing—no complaints there! I would happily spend money on good food like this, but as for the service? Nah."

Best Thai Restaurant 2023 | Lom Wong | Food & Drink
Over the past few years, Yotaka and Alex Martin have achieved nothing less than a total reinvention of the standard by which Thai restaurants in Phoenix are measured. With a heartfelt hat tip to Glai Baan for raising the bar and setting the stage, Lom Wong stepped into a city brimming with halfhearted Americanized dishes and challenged Phoenix diners to embrace Thai cuisine on its own terms. That tremendous gamble that has paid off in spades, mostly because the food at Lom Wong is so flipping good that even Americanized Thai fans set in their ways are left agape.
