It’s a barbecue joint, but my general philosophy in Calhoun’s – an East Tennessee culinary icon – is that they know how to handle their meat. It’s one of the best places to eat in the entire region. I traditionally take a stand against gimmick steaks – steaks covered in a bunch of unnecessary stuff but I make an exception for Calhoun’s “Ale” Steak, a 7 or 10-ounce sirloin marinated in olive oil, mustard, garlic and Cherokee Red Ale.

If the Smoky Mountain Brewery is too busy on game day, we recommend heading over to Calhoun’s . The SMB and Calhoun’s are owned by the same parent company, so there are Calhoun’s restaurants within walking distance of both the Gatlinburg Brewery and Pigeon Forge Brewery. Calhoun’s is best known as a sit-down BBQ restaurant, but it also has a great bar area with a handful of TVs and the same craft beer that is brewed at the SMB.
