Reviews Summary

Rose Foods is highly praised for its authentic Jewish deli fare, particularly its exceptional sourdough bagels and generous fillings like lox and whitefish. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service contribute to a welcoming dining experience. While some find it a bit pricey, most agree the quality and taste are well worth the cost.

"Great morning bagel sandwich spot - excellent quality, excellent selection, excellent service. Snagged a salami egg and added watercress; an egg cheese and added turkey bacon. The food was fast, the service was kind/nice.

Price was good for the quality. $11-13 per with those additions referenced.

"Thank you Rose Foods - you made my day. Coming from Denver, I’m always on the hunt for the best bagel, and my dreams have come true! The bagels are superb, crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. The whitefish is the best I’ve ever had. I couldn’t decide what to get so I ordered the Fisherman’s Feast, which offers a variety of everything I wanted to try from whitefish to pastrami nova and two other types of lox. 10/10 Would recommend to a friend."

When Mainers debate which bagel deserves the state’s top ranking, Jewish-style deli Rose Foods always makes the short list. Chef/owner Chad Conley’s bubbly, open-crumb sourdough bagels might not be ultra-orthodox, but they are tasty, especially when they’re split and filled with whitefish salad or capers and pastrami-style nova lox. Latkes and matzoh ball soup are also menu winners here.

In 2023, Rose Food landed on Bon Appetit’s The Very Best Bagels in the US (Yes, Outside New York). What really drew me in was the Regal Rose – a bagel topped with pastrami, eggs, latke, jalapeno mayo, and cheddar!. Unfortunately, when we went, they were out of pastrami and not serving this, so I chose the Classic Nova, which didn’t disappoint!
