Reviews Summary

Tusk is celebrated for its creative Middle Eastern cuisine, particularly its mezze selections and expertly crafted cocktails. Diners praise the fresh, flavorful dishes and the restaurant's trendy, light-filled ambiance. However, some find the menu limited compared to pre-pandemic offerings, and a few mention issues with over-seasoning or the mandatory 20% gratuity.

"I tried this place for the first time recently and was very impressed! The atmosphere/ambiance is very pleasant, the service was great, and although I don't typically go for Mediterranean food, almost everything tasted high quality and delicious. My personal favorite was the roasted chicken with caramelized onions, and I appreciate how the sauce was able to be put on the side as it was too spicy for me and would have overpowered the taste of the seasoning on the chicken which was fantastic! (For those who like it spicy, I'm sure you would appreciate the chicken paired with that sauce) I was also pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the Kale dip with molasses and sweet potato dish as I normally don't care for those foods but the way they prepared them was creative and won me over. The Baked Cheese also has a great flavor and is pretty rich and filling. I did notice that some of the menu items appear to have been updated or rotated out within the past month, so some of the dishes might be offered seasonally. Shout out to Bridger who does an excellent job as one of the chefs and I look forward to coming back in the future!"

"Tusk delivers on every front. The service was genuinely excellent—friendly, attentive, and perfectly paced. The drinks were an absolute 10/10, creative and beautifully balanced.

The food? Outstanding. The falafel stole the show—bright green inside from plenty of fresh parsley, perfectly crispy on the outside, and incredibly flavorful. It instantly reminded me of the legendary falafel from Mamoun’s in New York, which is high praise.

If you’re in Portland and want a place where stellar drinks meet unforgettable Middle Eastern–inspired food, Tusk should be at the top of your list"

Solomon Zoubi

"Beautiful, calm aesthetic and fun dishes/small plates and cocktails. We did the tasting menu and it was great to try things we might not have ordered otherwise. Our favorites were the salad with tahini dressing and the panna cotta for dessert!"

40 Absolute Best Restaurants In Portland

This vegetable-focused restaurant celebrates how Mediterranean flavors come together with Pacific Northwest ingredients. It's no surprise to see seasonal specials and locally-sourced produce on the menu; Tusk is owned by Submarine Hospitality (the restaurant group responsible for other Portland greats like Ava Genes, The Woodsman Tavern, and Cicoria Pizzeria). At Tusk, our favorite way to order is by mixing and matching dishes in the mezze selection, adding on a main or two depending on the size of the group.

They use farm-fresh produce and a sustainable ethos to create tasty dishes like Quinoa Tabouleh and Chanterelle Skewers with shishito peppers, green harissa, and honey.

For dinner that Sunday evening, we wanted to go to Tusk at first, then stopped at Mediterranean Exploration Company…but waiting time was more than an hour in both places. So, while looking for something nearby and considering a previous recommendation, we ended up going to Southpark Seafood on Salmon Street…only couple minutes drive from Portland waterfront. The restaurant is about 20 years old but it has upgraded its reputation recently in the last few years.
