The Patio Grill, an ever-popular choice on Commercial Street that’s been revamped fairly recently with new owners and a fresh look, serves up delicious cocktails — some in mason jars (which my Southern husband always likes) — with lunch or dinner day and night. Also, Victor’s and Liz’s Cafe/Anybody’s Bar, both on Bradford rather than the busier Commercial Street make good cocktails, with Victor’s especially popular for its happy hour.

Patio American Grill is one of the best spots in town for an authentic Cape Cod culinary experience. It serves New England-inspired cuisine and craft cocktails in a laid-back and relaxed setting. The restaurant serves a creative menu of fresh local seafood, a variety of lobster dishes, and classic American food such as prime steaks, burgers, gourmet sandwiches, homemade pasta plates, and vegetarian dishes.

You've got to love a restaurant that has an entire section of the menu devoted to lobster: Lobster Roll, Lobster Salad, Steamed Lobster, Lobster Arrabbiata, Lobster Mac n Cheese, New England Clambake. They also have a raw bar and have tasty options if you're feeling more turf than surf. Enjoy it all with Fido at one of the umbrella tables on their beautiful pet-friendly patio.

Edwige was the name of the mother of one of the original owners of Café Edwige, which has been around since 1974 — a very long time by contemporary Provincetown standards. In the 1930s, Pilgrim Cleansers and Dyers were here. During the early days of President Roosevelt’s “New Deal,” Johnny “Mott” Viera opened the New Deal Tavern in 1934.

If a tall, icy tower of chilled seafood is what you crave, head straight to Patio in Ptown. The Monument tower—named after Ptown’s Pilgrim Monument—is overflowing with oysters, clams, shrimp, lobster, ceviche and crab claws. Patio has outdoor seating and some of the best cocktails in town, including twelve kinds of mojitos.

Patio is a vibrant, open-air restaurant known for its lively atmosphere and fresh, seasonal cuisine. The "Grilled Swordfish," served with a light citrus sauce, is a standout dish, offering a taste of the sea. They will push the kitchen to stay open a little late if you ask nicely … unlike some of their neighbors.

The Red Inn is found at the very end of Commercial Street in the West End, it features a terrace and garden perfect for drinking a beer or sipping on a cocktail. The Red Inn also has a large dining room with a stupendous view of the very tip of the Cape. The ambiance is great, the menu excellent.

One place I like to eat but don’t love the lobster rolls is Patio American Grill, a seasonal spot on Commercial Street. This is a great spot for sipping rosé, but their lobster rolls are mediocre at its best. A few years back I had one where the bread tasted stale rather than toasted.

For lunch the next day, we stopped at the Patio American Grill & Cocktail Bar, which is also located on Commercial Street. It serves plenty of seafood dishes, New England cuisine, and sandwiches. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a wide range of cocktails and wines.

If you’ve walked up and down Commercial Street like I have many times, then you’ve definitely walked past the Patio. This time, instead of walking on by, I stopped in.

A great place to meet friends for drinks on the porch or around the cozy fireplace. Game room with pool table and video games. Open daily from 5pm to 1am year round.

If you were to mix it up on some days with the Patio and Bubala's you may be hard pressed to choose one over the other.
