Although rail lines had connected Boston to Sandwich by 1843, it wasn’t until 30 years later that rail companies extended their reach to Provincetown. Relish Bakery – We actually didn’t try any of their baked goods, but they had homemade Blackberry Lemonade that was tart and refreshing and the perfect pick me up for our morning walk.PTownScoop – I can’t resist a delicious waffle cone filled with housemade ice cream, this place had tons of fun flavors, but I opted for the Strawberry Cheesecake!. Purple Feather Treatery – This place has gelato and tons of delicious and over the top desserts. We loved the chocolate mousse!.

If you’re up for walking deep into the West End (do so, it’s charming), you can find sustenance at Relish, open mornings and afternoons. Regulars rave about the chicken salad sandwich with gorgonzola and pears, as well as the Italian-style tuna salad, ideal for the beach. The bakery turns out an array of exquisite desserts, including key lime tart, butterscotch haystacks, and chocolate espresso cookies, in addition to full, made-to-order cakes.

Relish – This quaint little no-nonsense cafe serves the best sandwiches in the city – as well as an array of naughty cakes, muffins and tarts for the sweet of tooth. All of which go perfectly with a relaxing cup of coffee, iced tea or even a watermelon smoothie or gazpacho. Tucked away in the historical district of Provincetown, Relish is nonetheless a worthy detour and respite from the often busy city center and beaches.

Seafood Sam’s in Sandwich is a casual spot known for its generous lobster rolls. Packed with fresh lobster meat and served on a buttered roll, it’s a go-to for those seeking a hearty meal. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s a great place to relax after exploring the Sandwich boardwalk.

This inviting little bakery in the West End makes a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches—great for a handheld meal while strolling about, or as beach picnic fare—but I always go for the pastries. Spring for a wedge of key lime tart, or grab a cookie or a slice of coffee cake.

This 1,300-foot wooden walkway crosses over beautiful marshes, Mill Creek, and winding waterways leading to Town Neck Beach. A picture at the proper angle can make the walkway appear endless. With stunning reflections, the boardwalk is a perfect spot for a sunset stroll.

They are known for exceptional confections as well as their crazy delicious made-to-order sandwiches. When I’m putting together a picnic lunch to enjoy at Herring Cove Beach or at Race Point Lighthouse, it’s goodies from Relish I’ll have in my knapsack.

Last-stop beach food and supplies can be found at Relish or the small market at Gale Force Bikes. East End has Angel Foods and East End Market, which both offer a wide range of breakfast and lunch options, as well as wine and beer for your cooler.

RELISH at 93 Commercial St. is a west-end favorite for its dependable sandwiches, pre-made salads and if you like your baked goods quite sweet there is a great selection, albeit pricey ones. Here the food is a bit more upmarket.

If cupcakes and cookies are more your style, Relish is open for the summer season. Their confections are almost (almost!) too pretty to eat. But oh, are they worth it.

If you want something you can easily take to the beach, walk or bike to Relish in the West End and try any of its delicious sandwiches (all for under $9).

It is a great stop on the way to the beach for a breakfast sandwich or muffin. They also have incredible lunch sandwiches and sweets.

It offers some sights that also give you an insight into what life used to be like on the island.
