Worthy Kitchen

One of Woodstock's liveliest and most popular places to eat, this upscale pub and bistro remains buzzing through most evenings. The chalkboard on the wall lists the hearty menu of American comfort classics given farm-to-table twists, and the craft beer selection is excellent. You can dine at the bar, at a booth under the lofty, wood-beam ceilings in the dining room, or at a table outside on the patio.

Just of the center is an offshoot of the cult-like Worthy Burger in South Royalton called Worthy Kitchen (442 Woodstock Road), and while Worthy Burger is an out-of-the-way spot in a rural area that focuses mainly on burgers and beers, this sister restaurant is a bit more like a test kitchen, with macaroni and cheese, pork belly hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and “worthy donuts” being every bit as popular (and delicious) as the tremendous burgers offered. And like its South Royalton counterpart, Worthy Kitchen offers some of the very best beers that Vermont has to offer.

Just east of town, Worthy Kitchen offers craft beer and terrific comfort fare (burgers, poutine, fried chicken, local cheeses). On the west side, you’ll find the beloved Mountain Creamery in a new location. It may no longer be in the heart of the village, but it’s still a great place to grab a VerMonte Cristo sandwich (ham, turkey, and Swiss between French toast slices, served with a side of maple syrup) and a slice of mile-high apple pie.

Perhaps the most popular counter-serve pub in Woodstock is Worthy Kitchen, which you can always expect to be packed from Thursday to Sunday—the only days it’s open. There’s a huge chalkboard up front that shows you the restaurant’s entire menu, adding to that laidback, small-town charm. With its casual vibe and sizeable selection of craft beers, gourmet burgers, and wings, it’s no wonder that it’s a lively place to eat at.

Located just outside of downtown Woodstock, Worthy Kitchen is a laid-back gastropub-style restaurant that has garnered a loyal following since its inception in 2013. The restaurant focuses on comfort food staples, prepared with a creative twist, and sources its ingredients from local farms and producers. Worthy Kitchen is a craft beer and farm diner featuring a chalkboard menu that changes according to what’s in season at the local farms. This counter service restaurant is affordable and family-friendly. My husband loves craft beer, so this is the kind of restaurant we’re always looking for on vacation.

Woodstock’s Worthy Kitchen is part of Worthy Vermont: a group of Vermont restaurateurs focused on local foods, craft beers, and artisan spirits. Worthy Kitchen offers rustic gourmet, farm-to-table entrees featuring 100% grass-fed beef, line-caught fish, humanely raised poultry, craft beers, and more.

We met up with my aunt who lives in Burlington, VT at Worthy Kitchen for lunch. While it fills up and reservations are recommended, it’s a more casual counter service farm-to-table place with local Vermont craft beers. You place your order at the counter, and it is brought to you at your table.

A great casual choice among Woodstock, Vermont restaurants is Worthy Kitchen. Like Cloudland Farm, you’ll enjoy a delicious farm-to-table approach to comfort food, with a menu that’s as delightful as it is diverse. They also have a fabulous craft beer selection.

Some places we wish we went to and heard a lot of good things about were Woodstock Scoops, Mon Vert, and Worthy Kitchen (closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). Mon Vert was packed though every chance we tried to stop in… probably worth the wait though!

For traditional American cuisine, look no further than Worthy Kitchen. They specialize in serving farm-to-table meals, so everything you eat is local. Plus, they have a fantastic craft beer selection that pairs nicely with any meal you might order.

Chow down in the farm-diner comfort of Worthy Kitchen (reservations coming November 2020) for a casual meal or the Woodstock Inn’s Red Rooster (reservations recommended) for understated elegance – and a hearty stew to warm you from the inside out.
