Reviews Summary

Old Tony's offers a quintessential beachside dining experience with a priceless ocean view and historic ambiance that many patrons cherish. While the cocktails and seafood like oysters and fish and chips receive praise, some guests find the food to be average and the restaurant's cleanliness and decor could use an update. Service is generally noted as attentive and pleasant, though consistency can vary.

"Tony’s on the Pier is the place where I truly enjoy grabbing drinks while enjoying the view, I really like all the stuff working there! I love old local restaurants and bars with a history - it just feels so good to be there! Then there is food downstairs and it is also amazing!"

"We didn't use the bathroom, but everything seemed clean. The service was swift, attentive, and pleasant. The chowder was kinda warm, not as tasty as I hoped for, and I would probably skip it next time. The oysters were perfect! The fish and chips were just how my wife likes them, and the fries were hot and fresh. The view is priceless. Thank you."

Michael Polacek

"We visited out of curiosity and were fortunate to get a great seat with a stunning ocean view—truly one of the best vantage points to take in Redondo Beach.

Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting. Prices felt steep for what was offered, particularly the $9.50 charge for a bottle of Corona, which came across as excessive. The zucchini was decent, but the shrimp were disappointingly small.

Service was another area that fell short. Our server seemed overwhelmed and wasn’t able to give us much attention, which detracted from the overall experience.

While the view alone is worth a visit, the food and service have room for improvement."

In business and family owned since 1952, Tony's on the Pier in Redondo Beach has been a landmark watering hole literally for generations. It's got incredible views of the ocean from the main floor and there's a wonderful vantage point from the Top 'o Tony's, the upstairs eyrie that affords views up and down the coastline and out to Catalina. Watch the sun set and sip on one of Tony's famous Mai Tais or try the Fire Chief, adding a 151 rum floater to the Mai Tai for a serious kick.

Whenever a South Bay local references Tony’s, it is typically followed with a chuckle or head shake, mostly due to the after-effects of the nautical-themed restaurant’s famous ‘Fire Chief’ cocktail. Tony’s souped-up version of a Mai Tai adds a 151 floater and grenadine to help it go down easier than it should, but the consolation prize is that the nifty cocktail glasses are complimentary.
