"My friends and I decided to check out Heritage Restaurant, and honestly, we were impressed! 👏🏾 The service was smooth, we didn’t have to wait long for our food (a first for a Ghanaian restaurant 👀), and the atmosphere was so warm. The owner even came over, shared some gems, and made us feel at home. 💛 The food? Absolutely delicious – and there’s something for everyone on the menu. Thank you Herit...

Reviews Summary

Heritage Restaurant offers a sophisticated dining experience with its seasonal New American cuisine and craft cocktails. Diners consistently praise the innovative dishes, exceptional service, and cozy ambiance. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some patrons have encountered issues with the host's demeanor during busy periods.

"Food quality / price (value) rating 9.5. The atmosphere is a contemporary "shot gun" space which is tastefully decorated with high quality furnishings and a gallery style display of rotating local artists / painters works for sale. The menu is constantly changing, but the offerings are consistently high quality ingredients prepared properly and presented beautifully. The owners, Emilia and Joe, are not new to the restaurant business, and have experience operating a number of different venues. Emilia's training with the C.I.A. (Culinary Institute of America) and Joe's experience and command of the kitchen, guarantee an exceptionally pleasurable gastro experience. We started by sharing a snack of Fried Broccoli with an aioli dip. The florets had a unique texture that my mouth experienced for the first time, and leaves me without words to describe it. For an entree, I had the Petite Filet served along side of a wonderful unusual mix of vegetables and mushrooms (see the menu for a complete description). Everything was prepared and presented beautifully. The wife had the Garganelli Carbonara. The dish includes a house made pasta of a shape we've never seen, cooked perfectly al dente. To top off our evening, we each ordered a dessert, which was very unusual for us. I had the house-made Ice Cream Sandwich, which was just as incredible and unique as their dessert menu describes. The wife had the Candied Orange Cannolis (three), also house-made, and filled immediately prior to serving assuring a crisp, not soggy, shell. Both desserts were incredible! I'm told by the staff at Heritage that all menu items are offered for a limited time, so hurry and get here soon if you want to try the Ice Cream Sandwich. Our server, Kassandra, was knowledgeable, pleasant, and attentive, and the prices were reasonable for what we received. They offer a number of catering services, and a Happy Hour from 5 to 7 pm. The building where the restaurant can be found is understated, so you may have to look twice to find it, but it is well worth the effort."

"Amazing culinary experience. High quality food and service. We order appetizers and a salad plus two entrees. The salad was superb. I had the duck which was delicious, my husband ordered the pork loin that besides it was dry but the flavors were there. The ice cream sandwich was delicious."

"This was a great experience! I'm a fairly picky eater and the food was amazing! As was the cocktail. The waitress was friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend!"

Best Brunches and Breakfasts in Richmond

Heritage might be considered quintessentially Southern, and very Richmond, but chef Joe Sparatta has slipped his central-Jersey roots into the menu in the form of Taylor Ham, also known as a Pork Roll. Sparatta makes this regional delicacy, a bit like bologna but with a little more tang from lactic fermentation, in-house using heritage pork breeds — Berkshire and Ossabaw — raised by Autumn Olive Farms near Waynesboro. He pairs his pork simply with eggs and cheese; a workingman’s roadhouse breakfast elevated by premium ingredients and care.

We’ve talked about elevated and artisan cocktail menus before, but Heritage has always taken it to another level. We love sitting at the bar when we go to Heritage, because a) the bartenders are always super social and nice to chat with, and b) with all the droppers and different pours they use to make their concoctions, they look like they’re doing alchemy behind the bar, and it’s exceedingly fun to watch.
