What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Grace Meat + Three is lauded for its exceptional fried chicken and flavorful Southern comfort food, often served quickly. While many praise the customer service and overall deliciousness, some find portion sizes to be small for the price, and occasional inconsistencies with certain sides like cornbread or mac and cheese are noted. Dining here offers a taste of refined 'blue-collar' cuisine that satisfies most diners, though it's advisable to check menu availability.
"Kind of similar to a fast food restaurant where you order at the desk upon arrival and then find an empty table. They will bring your food out to your table based on your given number. This place offers your basic fried foods including chicken and catfish. I had the catfish meal deal and loved it. Plenty of food for a relatively low price. We also had the fried pickle appetizer. The food is very filling here so don’t overestimate what you can eat. There is no dedicated parking lot so you’ll have to find street parking. Overall a good quick and easy restaurant if you’re eating on a timeline but don’t want fast food."

"Our food came out super fast which leads me to believe it wasn’t cook to order. I ordered the chicken and waffles and fried pickles. My chicken wings were warm not hot and seemed like the grease they were fried in was old. The waffle was just plain nasty. Not only was it a flat waffle, it was salty and also just warm when it came out. The pickles were the only thing that was piping hot and good. When I expressed to the worker that I wasn’t happy with my waffle her attitude was like she really didn’t care, but she asked dryly if I wanted something else and so I got fries. I ate 2/4 wings, a bite of the waffle and a few fries before my stomach started bubbling. I should’ve just asked for a refund. Definitely won’t go back"

"I got the surf and turf platter and it was outstanding! Fresh and full of flavor! Wings were amazing and the fish and shrimp were very flavorful! Felt like I was back home in the south!"

A glance at the menu of good ol' country cooking at Grace Meat + Three(4270 Manchester Avenue, 314-533-2700) might lead you to believe that chef/owner Rick Lewis cut his teeth in the kitchen of a homestyle cafeteria — not in some of the city's finest white-tablecloth establishments. However, when you taste Lewis' cooking, you'll quickly realize that behind his self-described "blue-collar" dishes lies the refinement and skill of a great culinary talent. It's a marriage of haute blue-plate specials and down South after-church fare wrapped in bacon and sopped up with a biscuit.
