Reviews Summary
Louie is a highly sought-after Italian restaurant known for its impeccable service, cozy atmosphere, and carefully curated menu. Diners rave about standout dishes like the octopus and pork ragu gnocchi, as well as the wood-fired pizzas and creative cocktails. However, some find the atmosphere to be excessively loud and dark, and a few have experienced minor issues with food preparation or salt levels.
"It took me a long time to get a reservation at this restaurant, and I couldn't understand why it was so difficult. Yesterday, I discovered the reason: the restaurant is truly special. It has a small, cozy atmosphere, impeccable service, and a concise, carefully curated menu. There were no wrong choices—everything we ordered was excellent. In my opinion, the stars of the night were the octopus with chickpeas and potatoes and the pork ragu gnocchi. Divine! I’m already planning to return and try the rest of the menu."

"The food, the service, the drinks!! Everything was phenomenal. I was not disappointed at all. El tigre is my new favorite drink. For appetizers we had the prosciutto and Brussel sprouts both were to die for! For our means, we had the chitarra and mussels both were excellent. I cant wait to try more dishes! For dessert, we got the Panna cotta. It was definitely not traditional, and tasted more of a fall dish to me. I wish I had ordered the ice cream, but I was so stuffed, but I wanted a lighter dessert! We will be coming back"

"If you like to bathe in salty, buttery, bready goodness, this is for you. Louie doesn't skimp and really puts their whole back into it. When you go, because you should, prepare to be decadent. Atmosphere is a little too loud for me. If you want food that is just as good with an even better atmosphere, I would check out their other spot, Wright's Tavern."

At Louie (706 De Mun Avenue, Clayton; 314-300-8188), Matt McGuire has created the sort of restaurant where everyone wants to eat — which makes it an incredibly difficult reservation to score. The small, shotgun dining room, simply appointed with wooden tables, exposed ductwork and a wall of striking, floral-print wallpaper, fills quickly. If the dining room is lovely in its simplicity, the food is even more so.
