What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Planter's House is highly lauded for its phenomenal beverage program, offering creative twists on classic cocktails and an impressive spirit selection. Diners rave about the outstanding food, particularly the burgers and fries, in a chic, inviting atmosphere. While cocktails can be pricey, the quality and expertise of the bartenders make it a worthwhile experience.
"This place is a throwback to classic drinks and magnificent food offerings. The bartenders are knowledgeable and will help you find the right drink for you or make you what you like. The bourbon and whiskey offerings are vast, and some are unique. I recommend Purgatory and The Last Word classic pre prohibition drinks that are remarkable, to say the least. It's a good spot for a date or just a place to grab a drink and small bites alone. My bartender was Jeff, his knowledge and love for his craft go above and beyond epic. If you happen to go tell him, Lamont sent you.
Enjoy!"

"Went for happy hour dinner as one of our first stops in town. The burgers were both outstanding (the duck burger is just a bit more interesting in my opinion). The In a Pickle cocktail is hands down one of the best I've had (and we have our fair share of outstanding bars in Louisville)...this was signature drink material. If/when I am back, I will absolutely visit again."

"If you enjoy creative and well-done cocktails, Planter’s House is a great place to delight your tastebuds. The creative naming of these drinks is nearly as enjoyable whilst making your selections. :)
Their food menu isn’t expansive, but I believe they focus on fewer items done especially well. I return often for their burger and fries. Sounds simple, but I’d still call it gourmet. Even the fries are magnificent with the option for a dill topping and a side of aioli, they are classically delicious! Besides, enjoying cocktails alongside a burger and fries? What could go wrong? Mmmm…
On lovely afternoons and/or evenings, enjoy al fresco dining on their back patio. It’s especially appealing during evenings with their soft patio lighting.
Consistent service and food makes this a place to return again and again. (Note: Planter’s House, please find room for the frozen drink machine and serve the Big O year around again!) 😋"

Seating at the bar had just resumed when I returned to Planter’s House this March. Once again you can watch closely as Ted Kilgore’s team members stir and shake timeless classics and the expansive, often-changing repertoire of Planter’s House originals. You might mumble or strategically elide the names of a cocktail like Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine, but your glass holds a bold yet sophisticated concoction of blanco tequila, spiced hibiscus liqueur and a blood-orange puree.

Picking up on the holiday scent, in 2016, the owners of Planter’s House opened Miracle, a kitschy tinsel-and-garland-covered sendup of the holiday.
