What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hyacinth is praised for its innovative and flavorful Italian-Mediterranean cuisine, particularly its pastas, appetizers, and desserts. The intimate and elegant ambiance creates a romantic setting, complemented by a sophisticated cocktail and amaro selection. While most reviews highlight exceptional food and attentive service, some guests mention noise levels during peak hours and occasional forgetful service.
"No notes! Beautiful meal, 4 guests and we shared 4 apps, 4 entrees (2 large and 1 small pastas) and the desserts. We were very impressed by the seasonality and freshness of the dishes. Their chefs and cooks really hit the right balance of flavors, textures and presentation. Our favorites were the burrata and flatbread (seems like a staple), snap peas (must try while it is on!) and the 3 pastas were also delicious! 3 of us were not drinking and were satisfied with the NA options. My partner and I will be back another time as the wine and amaro selection look amazing. Service was exceptional from entering the space until we left."

"Last night was our second time at Hyacinth! We were celebrating 4 years of dating. Our server, Hanna, was excellent and attentive! We ordered two different red wines with dinner, the Dolcetto and the Cab Blend. Both were lovely with the food. The appetizers were the stars of our meal, last time we had the fried olives and the bread and loved them. We wanted to try different ones this time! We had the Roasted Cabbage and the Crispy Mushrooms. We scraped the sauce from the cabbage bowl and even ate the crumbs of the mushrooms. For pasta we got the Mussel Linguini and the Fusili Ragu. We didn’t think either was super special. The linguini had an earthy taste with the Saffron and the Fennel. The Fusili felt like something we could make at home. For the entrees we got the Risotto and the Skate. The Risotto tasted like a Midwestern thanksgiving cheesy potatoes… but fancy. So if you’re into that then this is the dish for you! We personally didn’t think it made sense as an entree. The Skate was really unique with the grape sauce! Last but certainly not least, the Rum Cake was worth saving room! The Earl Grey and Orange flavors were a party. In the end we’d order the apps again and the dessert again, but we would try the other pastas and entrees. Thanks for a good meal Hyacinth!"

"Everything we ate and drink was incredible. I got the Marmalade Spritz—divine. My bestie and I shared two salads (the watermelon & zucchini w/ ricotta), and two main courses (the Mezze Meniche which was a beautiful pesto w/ walnuts and anchovies and the crispy risotto). All filled us up with flavor, texture, veggies (and fruit!), and deliciousness. The Mezze Meniche pesto reminded me of my mom’s walnut pesto and I had a nostalgic experience eating it straight out of “Ratatouille”. Our waiter was a delight, giving us good insight to our meal and questions. My bestie and I haven’t had a sit down meal together alone in years and this was a very special evening 💓"

The 10 Best Restaurants In St. Paul 2024 - St. Paul
The narrow dining room at Hyacinth feels like you’re spending dinner aboard a luxury passenger train with delicious pasta. Start the evening off by sharing the flatbread with the jiggly burrata add-on or fried olives stuffed with sharp provolone. If it’s available, order the bucatini cacio e pepe for textbook al dente noodles tossed with exactly the right amount of cheese and pepper—it’s so good you’ll throw a death glare at anyone asking for a bite, even your soulmate.
St. Paul's Best Restaurants
After cooking at Michelin-starred restaurants in NYC for years, Chef Rikki Giambruno brought his big-city pedigree back home and opened Hyacinth: a tiny-but-mighty Italian spot that proved that not only can you come home again, but you can make it a better place than it was before. Hyacinth’s vibes are distinctly Brooklyn, with marble tables packed close together and chill but personal service from servers in Warby Parker frames. Cozy, quiet, and romantic, Hyacinth is the perfect spot for a special date night or reconnecting with a friend.

Best Italian Restaurants in the Twin Cities
Relatively new, this little Italian joint has taken the neighborhood by storm. Reservations are hard to come by, as the space is small, but once you're there you'll feel like you've been transported to the Mediterranean with the crisp white walls, antique dishes, and pops of blue. The food is really very good, I'd go back in a heartbeat.

There is a downside to Hyacinth, though - it can be pretty cramped inside. Even before the pandemic, sometimes you had to yell to have your server hear you on a busy night, and the tables are closer than normal in a pretty tight space. Pre-pandemic, we preferred to go weeknights when it was less busy - not sure how it is these days.
